Which one of your weapons draws the most attention at the range?
So what weapon(s) that you own bring the most attention when you bringing them to the range?, I know most of us own more than a few of them but there's got to be one in particular that is a crowd pleaser, anyone?, I am at work and don't have access to my picture folder but I will post mine later on.
Let's see what you got!

I start out with .22's 617's then move up to 686P .357 and then Model 29 .44 mags Then saving the most expensive after I am warmed up, out comes the .460's and the .500's. This will usually get range attention even though you might not want it.

It seems my AMT Automag III 30 cal carbine turns heads. It's real loud and has a muzzle flash that is impressive.

Years ago, we used to have an indoor range in town. While most would run their target out to around the ten yard range during the 9mm popularity days of Miami Vice, I would run mine out to the max and use my scoped 686 6" with 158 grain jhp. It definetly got their attention.

Russian M44. It leaves a ball of flame about 6" from the muzzle that is quite impressive just before dusk. Usually gathers a few observers and "can I give it a try's?". I can't even imagine what it must be like in battle with hundreds of these going off and no ear plugs. Did they stuff cotton or moss in their ears?

Frank Glenn front grip XP-100
Howdy,
That would be my long range gun for the Masters.
Most folks have not seen one and it is not your daddy's XP-100.
It gets a lot of attention.
Lilja barrel and two chamber comp in 7BR.
I have an old Marlin 56 that I had a Ruger bull barrel put on. It gets noticed a lot too. Nice wood and a good shooter.
Thanks
Mike

Since I only use handguns at the range, it is certainly my custom S&W 1911. Everyone wants to try shooting it.
Being fair, I carry no less than four handguns with me on each trip and the only one that draws interest is the S&W 1911.

At the outdoor range, where my buddy & I shoot, most shooters have some sort of plastic jam-o-matic. When we drag out some of our old people guns, we usually get a few gawkers. After we start hitting the 136 yard gong, some of them really get interested. Occasionally one of them will ask to shoot one of ours & are really impressed how easily they too can hit the gong with ours as compared to theirs.
These are what we had out recently.

I just got off work and I am amazed at the response of my thread, it's alway nice to see other's shooters favorite weapons, but you can only choose one and this is mine, actually I have two but one will do, it's a crowd pleaser and it draws attention from everyone including the range master's...

When they see that all I have at the range are revolvers, that does the trick. Even the black plastic crowd loves the high polished 2.5" Mod 66-1, it's just all class.

My 10.5" Performance Center .460 always draws a crowd. I've been told the ground shakes 6' away when I shoot it. The muzzle blast and noise are pretty formidable too!

The only one that I have that seems to attract a lot of attention is my 625 Performance Center .45 revolver. The gun seems to attract them and the red, white and blue Hogue grips seem to get the Wow!

My like new 1955 Heavy Masterpiece usually gets a looker or two, especially from the younger shooters to whom plastic and locks are the norm. If they are really interested I usually invite them to shoot a few rounds and most of their remarks concern the solid feel, the finish and the smooth action.

.54 caliber TC Scout looks pretty unassuming until I load it up with 110 grains of FFg and a 460 grain bullet. Then the big boom and the thick white smoke gets a lot of looks.

Any revolver will often draw some attention. I guess the M-60-4 gets the most. Looks like a baby M-686, and shoots like a full-sized one! With Speer/CCI Gold Dot 125 grain bullets, it thinks it's a target gun, and also shoots Federal's No 38G (lead HP) load well. Not that I always run Plus P in it...
I'd feel pretty confident of hitting a snake in the head with it at any dangerous distance. A mamba in a high-speed attack is exempted, of course. I'd pray for a shotgun then!
I lack the range facilities to shoot beyond 25 yards, but once could astound people with what a .44 Magnum would do to 100 yards.
A CZ-75B also raised some eyebrows from the set that has trouble hitting standard bullseyes at ten yards. My son got that away from me, but I think I'll replace it when I can.

My Model 14 usually pisses off the plastic fantastic crowd. I'm hitting small targets at the back wall (60 feet) while they're missing every third shot at 21 feet with their Glocks and lasers.

People seem to like either of my custom muzzle loading rifles. The most common question people ask is if I built the rifles from a kit. I'm honest with them when I tell them that the only thing I can do with a maple stock blank is make firewood. Not in my wildest dreams could I make a muzzle loading rifle. I paid for very good people to make the rifles.
Does anyone know if Bob Roller in West Virginia is still making locks and triggers, and if Robert Hoyt in Pennsylvania is still making barrels?

The 12 ga is a USMS WP870. It's an AOW $5.00 tax stamp. mine is from Automatic Weaponry in Brentwood Tennessee. I think Wilson makes them now.

Sorry I don't have a picture of them, but for me it's always been either one of my Winchester Model 71's chambered for the .348 Win. cartridge.
I remember back about 1975 going to a small range in the Fall when there were quite a few people getting their Rifles sighted in for Deer Season. No one gave me a second glance when they seen me with my plain jane lever gun, not until it went off that is. I remember touching off that first round and things got real quiet. When I turned and looked to my left to see what had caused the "cease fire" (I was down at the end of the line) I saw a row of faces lookin' my way and realized that I was the cause. The next thing you know I was surrounded by most who were there wanting to know what in the heck I was shootin'?
That's not the only time those Model 71's drew attention, but, for me at least, it's one of the most memorable........

Indoors my 6" 686 loaded with 357 Mag 125gr HP ammo gets them coming or going due to the muzzle flash. This being Las Vegas we often have tourists at the range from countries where citizen ownership of handguns is banned. They either pack up immediately after i start or come running wanting to see more. I must take my 44 one day... Mind you, some of the allegedly low recoil ammo shot from a Model 65 got a lot of attention even from the range staff due to sheer volume, and low recoil it is not. Their main concern was that I was shooting some overdone handloads.
Outdoors a fullsize (28"+ barrel) Mauser in any caliber over 7mm will get the AR crowd looking nervous, but an FN 49 in 8mm usually leaves them speechless. I thinks it is the big brass buckets that are ejected that make them nervous. Any nicely finished milsurp will draw a crowd, but even a "been there, done that" looking rifle gets attention if it is the right model.

I have a few FN FAL-type rifles. They look evil and usually draw some interest. The ones that were built during the assault weapons ban have muzzle brakes instead of flash hiders. The shorter the barrel, the more bark with the flash hiders. Not bad to shoot but the racket to both sides is something.

Outdoors, its my M1 and my dad's 300win mag.
Its the 6" model 28 that drowns out those pesky 9mm going off.

I have an old H&R single shot, bolt action .22, with a Lyman #55 peep. The rifle alone draws enough attention (it's a thing of beauty), but those nickel sized groups I shoot at 50 yards draw plenty of attention.
For the kaboom factor, it'd be my 629.

Anytime I bring a Flintlock to the range. Brings a lot of smiles. End up with a lot of Q&A's, then usually let a few shoot it.

For me it's my M1A loaded. People seem to get this look of shock when a 20 something shows up and pulls out a long barreled, walnut stocked, fightin', mans rifle. Makes em all take notice when you can use the iron sights to chew a golf ball out of a target at 100 meters too

I'd have to say none as I do not own any weapons, only firearms. Though I suspect some of my many former military firearms were used in that capacity at sometime in their lives.

I have one with a 14" Barrel with a 4x scope on it. Hit bowling pins @ 100 yards and they spin over the rail Everyone yells "EARS" when I'm sitting behind it. A little much for deer hunting, but it also field dresses and skins the deer for you.

I have an older 36" barreled 10 gauge H&R, but it is does have a 3 1/2" chamber- although I have an Ithaca Roadblocker in 10 gauge too, the single barrel is by far the biggest piece of artillery I have.
I bought about a dozen boxes of 10ga slugs at Franklins some years ago when they had them for $3.99 a box...
When they see that long barrel sticking out past the firing line, and a huge dirt plume at the end of the range and the odd sound of this thing going off- I always get looks and some snickers.
I keep meaning to load some round ball for it too.
The only other thing that caused more attention was when I blew the choke out of a shotgun at a trap match!
