How I spent my Summer vacation or can you ID this Saloon? Bear attack pic added
I'm back and had a great time. There is no prize for a correct answer and it may be easy for some as there are hints in the photo. No wise cracks about the hot chick at the bar, thats my wife. More photo's to follow.

rimfired--I think I've sat on that very same stool that your wife is occupying. Everytime I've been there (many) it was always more crowded. I have imbibed many adult beverages there.---( My wife loves to cruise)

How rough was the trip?
I'd like to go on one of those cruises one day, but I'm a bad sailor.
I spent a lot of time on boats and planes as a kid and didn't enjoy some of it at all.

acp, Sailed out of Seattle, full day at sea. Very smooth sailing, we had one day of 12 ft swells but the new ships stabilizers make it very calm. I've been in rough seas many times years ago, this trip was smooth. Can't guarantee anything though.

Great place that Red Dog Saloon. We drank a lot of beer there. My wife & I were on that cruise in May, 2004. We were married May 19, 2004 in Sitka. Real nice guns on the wall above the bar.

I haven't been there, but it reminds me of the Buckhorn Bar in Laramie, WY; a fine drinking establishment!

If you turn around and look behind you you will see this picture. I was just there June 23rd this year. Rained all day while I was there, they do make good hamburgers. Sounds like the Holland America 7 day cruise. Same one we took. Best part was the float plane flight out of Ketchikan. Awesome scenery.

I only looked far enough to see most of the photo. I have to guess the Red Dog Saloon in Juneau.
Now I can go back and read through the responses.

I was there during a 7 day cruise in May 1995. We were married in April '95 and took the cruise for our honeymoon, but had to wait for the first passage in May. An excellent trip.
Did you ride the White Horse Pass railroad while in Skagway? A narrow gauge line with a mighty steep ascent,
I had never before seen hundreds of Bald Eagles in one spot until Ketchican. They were everywhere, perched on power poles and roosting in the trees. I asked a local about them and his reply was that they were waiting for the salmon to run.
We're thinking of doing the 14 day trip for our 20th.

Funny you should mention that Sip. I had a close encounter with a big black bear in Sitka but I walked away unscathed.
They wouldn't let me carry on the ship.
We didn't do any inland trips and yes it was on the Oosterdam, Holland America line. Did a four hour whale, sea otter and eagle tour. Saw plenty of everything.

That looks like currency around the two big rectangles, but it's hard to tell.
What is is?

It is currency, ones, fives and tens mostly, that have been signed and tacked up as a momento of the visit.
