Default Texas Nature Eye-Candy

Just saw a profile of the official state photographer of Texas, Wyman Meinzer. He's very talented and his work is a treat that feels intimate and familiar.

Here's a link to some of his favorites pics.

Some beautiful work in that series. Love the wildlife photographs. Those Roadrunners are something else, aren't they? I do subscribe to the theory that birds are descenced from the dinosaurs.

Yes, he is. I had the privilege of meeting him a few years back at a local nature center program. He does magnificent work.

In the early 70s I spent a couple of years at Ft. Hood courtesy of Uncle Sam. Central Texas is very much like my much beloved home in West Tennessee. I fell in love with the place. I've always known that if some some reason I were to leave here, I'd be headed for Texas.

There's nothing like a few shots of Wild Turkey on the rocks.

That's why when someone asks me what it's like here--I tell them a slight lie saying it's nothing but desert and some areas with Tumbleweeds. Works almost every time.

Many wondrous places here in Texas! A person could never see them all in one lifetime. We are blessed.

I just got back from a little Texas vacation. West Dallas, Bryan, San Antonio, Fredricksburg, Luckenback, Wimberley, then Driftwood for dinner at the Salt Lick. I just missed the bluebonnets. Man, the Hill Country sure is beautiful. I don't know why, but it is.
