Default My Little Girl is in Jail

Well, I just got back home in Ky. I got my daughter out of jail. That was one heck of a experince. Shes on probation for 3 years. If I had not have been there for her she would still be in jail. I feel in my heart she has learned. I had to come back home due to work........The probation people is going to let her transfer up here, shes still in Florida. I want to thank you people here for all of your words they have HELPED ALOT. My daughter and I BOTH know she has a long road ahead............I am afraid my happiness is "fleeting".........I am sick in my stomach and I dont feel right...........At this point all I can do is hope and pray and try to reach her, Thanks Ernie

I am glad she is out, and I hope it all works out for you both. It will take some work but it can be done. Good luck and god bless

That's great news. Now the work begins, though. Tough love is tough, on both parties.

Good luck, and I know you have the prayers of many of us. Let me say this: I been around the block and have dealt with this with another. Remember this: THERE IS NO FAMILY UNTOUCHED!!
Most familys have gone through similar. If they say they havent, THEY WILL! People just dont admit to it or advertise it!

I can recall drying out my kid sister .... and of course I recall that .. you never forget those various moments where your hand is forced to do things you normally would not.
takes more physical pain to make them drop a weapon than you might like to inflict, and people can go through drywall when motivated.
it aged me quite a lot ..

The unconditional love and guidance you provide will do the trick.
Or, at least it's the best thing, and the best chance she's gonna get.
God bless you all.
Peace,
gordon

Loving them is easy, liking them is the hard part. To many folks on both sides don't like to face that particular reality.

Good luck to you.

Ernie,

I am glad that is working out well so far. As others have stated, there is a long road ahead, it will have many challenges, and you both will be tested.

I commend your commitment, many times I have seen families wash their hands and give up. Many times I have understood that they reached the end of their rope and felt they did not have any other choice.

I pray that your outcome will be better and you and your daughter will be stronger and your love returned in ways you cannot comprehend right now.

Many things depend on our attitude and relative perspective. I rail at the imperfections in my kids and I remember friends whose children died shortly after birth or lived institutionalized. I get pissed off at the symptoms of my aging and then remember friends who did not live to college graduation, or died before their children were born, or died in the military when we were too young and thought ourselves invincible. Choose landmarks and progress to look forward to and celebrate. Revive old bonding customs where you had fun together or start new ones. If it were easy, you would not need a parent. There is much more to celebrate than to mourn, you are both still here, and after all, tomorrow is another day...

You have my congratulations and prayers.

As you know, I wrote you a PM right after you told us about this. I have been down this road and it is not a nice drive. The stats say this is not her last arrest. The stats say a lot more and not much of it is good.

At least you have your daughter and stand a chance of working it all out in your favor. My daughter passed away from her love of things that would eventually kill her. Why one daughter out of three chose to travel that road is still difficult to accept but it was her friends and their lifestyles that meant more to her than family.

Mrs Nancy Reagan started a campaign to "Just Say No" and that was a nice effort. Once a person gets in that lifestyle, they would usually rather quit breathing than say NO. They want to stay clean but their willpower is not as strong as the drugs.

You have the prayers and support of all those here. Each of us hope this is a long story that has a happy ending. My best to you in all ways.

Ernie, I'm glad to hear she has been given a chance. She has to be the one to feel it in her heart that she has learned. She has to make recovery her life's goal - in every way.

As much as we love our children, we can't do it for them. We can't beg them, nag them, threaten them, bribe them into sobriety. They have to do it.

My best wishes to you both. You're a good dad.

I won't offer any advice since I have no experience besides reporting and arresting drug users/abusers. However, I am glad you managed to bring your daughter home. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Keep up the good fight and stay strong.

Good work, Ernie. You have done exactly what a parent is supposed to do when a child gets into tough circumstances.

Good luck to you and to her going forward. If you stay strong, it will be easier for her to do the same.

Glad to hear the so far so good report.

Caring and devotion to child is wonderful. That said, and as you likely already know and have been advised, parents need specific education on this if the child is going to live in the home. Drug addiction isn't something that a parent instinctively knows how to handle or that just love can overcome. My best wishes to you and yours.

The first step is the hardest. Keep your heart open, keep headed for the Light and know you don't walk alone.
