Default Patience

Went to get my picture taken for my driver license renewal today.Walked in took a ticket #39,lighted sign said now serving #38.Thought this is my lucky day won't be here for the usual 45 minutes. Not there 3 minutes and they called my number.Took my picture signed the forms waited about 5 minutes for the printer to kick out new license.Meantime Mr.Me First comes in the door whining about some confusion on his number being called. He was number 41.About my age(mid 50s)dressed in shorts and NFL Steeler shirt and sandals.Apparently not on his way to work or a game(today's Friday.)I was there a total of 10 minutes and he was out the door before I backed my truck out of the parking place cause I saw him.I seem to see more and more people who believe that it is perfectly ok to make a scene over the most trivial. My wife calls me impatient and I admit I can be, but in all my life I have never felt compelled to make a public spectacle of myself no matter what.Is it just me or have we fostered a society of self centered individuals who apparently don't care how they appear to others?Ok I feel better now .Thanks for hearing me.I love this place.

TV instead of reading books. Easy credit versus saving up for something you want. Selfish pursuit of personal gratification instead of service to others. Finished off with a big dollop of personal entitlement and a general lack of respect for self, others, animals, and the planet in general. I'm surprised he didn't do something worse.

I was on my 30 min. lunch at a Signal convenience store, standing in a line that reached nearly all the way across the store, when a highway patrolman walked in, grabbed a coke and walked to the front of the line.
I advised him that the line starts back there. He gave me a strange look, so I told him that if he is in such a hurry to patrol the hiway, or on an emergency run, to take off and I would pay for his coke when I check out.
He slowly walked to the back of the line when he noticed everyone in that line was giving me the thumbs up, and laughing.
I probably should have not done that, but I would do it again. People can be rude a arrogant and it seems that now days, it's OK.
Peace,
gordon

A lady, about my age (I am 51) got in line behind me at the bank today....had about 5 people in front of me....she grabbed some employee walking by and told him that she was just there to make a deposit, and why did she have to wait in line??
I turned around and looked at her and told her that patience was a virtue, and I doubted any of us would be there more than 10 minutes. She must not have appreciated me, cause the next thing she said to the employee was that "that need to hire more people, cause it is lunchtime and she is in a hurry"....
The bank employee was very nice and said that they are doing the best they can. I said (why didn't I just shut up) that the night depository is open 24 hours a day, she could just drop it in there.
Finally, she quit complaining and stood in line like the rest of us. Took me 7 minutes to get out of the bank....
she got out before I did....
I wasn't in my home county, so it likely didn't cost me any votes to editorialize on her failure to plan her life in a timely manner.

If one of my deputies did that I would have them standing tall trying to explain it to ME.....

I was recently told by my boss that I lacked the proper attitude to perform a different job which I had inquired about. I am not a butt kisser, do not believe the customer is always right, and do not think someone's lack of planning turns their situation into a priority to me. I was told I would never re-educate the public so I must strive to make them happy in these hard economic times. There are far too many whiners who fail to take responsibility in the world today; and I have pointed this out to more than one of them.

I start training in two weeks, LOL!!

+1. Couldn't have said it any better than that.

I done my career in california and now live in utah. There is a world of differance. Its good here. Once in california it was near christmass and I was at the post office. The place was jam packed with about the longest line I ever waited in. After a long wait I got maybe 10 people from the window. A chienese fellow walked past me and jammed himself in line maybe 3 people from the window. A lady between he and I said sir, sir, you werent there, please go back to the end. He snarled at her No, I was too here! That was too much for me. I left my place, walked up and grabbed him and walked him to the end. He grumbeled about it but stayed there. Nobody said anything!

Showing frustration towards those who you require assistance from usually doesn't pay off. Offering a smile and understanding can get you rewards that you weren't expecting. Got a free set of finger prints from the crime scene guys the other day. All I said when the guy apologized for the wait is 'Take your time, I'm not in a hurry.' (actually I was in a hurry to get downtown but that's another story). Saved $11.
