They are both great shows. You need to have patience. It saves driving from one store to the next and tracking down so many private sellers. That alone is worth a lot. If you're looking for prices way below value you will be diappointed.

Patience is an understatement!! Rude people, crowds, strollers, and prices? forget even actual value, way over valued! turned me off to the Tampa show. I would not call the Tampa show a great show at all! I actually ended up the Monday after the Tampa show driving around to local stores and ended up scoring a beautiful model 66 in a very short time.

The Lakeland show is sponsored by the Lakeland Rod and Gun Club.. Not a regular gun show promoter... the ratio of private sellers to dealers is high.. many more private sellers... lot's of neat stuff... not all cheap.. but good stuff.. at the last one there were actually 3 Registered Magnums... for sale!!
The show is only held twice a year and well attended

Actually three times a year, Jan., Apr., and Sept., but who am I to correct the great and gracious learned one.
Yup, it's two rooms, about 600+ tables and true some of the bargains have faded some over the last few years, but still the biggest and best show in Florida. In the past I've gotten some of my best deals ever there on guns and how about a set of Sambar stag J-frame grips for $30?

I agree with the others. This show is usually twice the size of the Suncoast Gun Shows and has many more private sellers. There are tons of collectibles as well as guns to view.

Eleven semolians!?!?!?!
Do I get a cupcake, too?
Well, at least the parking is free now. My friends from Jacksonville usually charter a bus to this show- usually pretty good.

It used to be $5.00 parking and $8.00 to get in. They worked a deal with the Civic Center and now you pay $11.00 to get in and they take care of the parking, so it's a better deal.

I heard via the grapevine that you were coming down, but we can't hold the GS over for another week. How long are you gonna be around? Next weekend there's one over at Cocoa Beach and the the following week Oct. 2 there's one, a good one BTW, at the Orlando Fiargrounds.

Dick, I think 5 days , according to my trip planner then off to Savannah, Ga and Chapel Hill, NC before heading back behind the iron curtain . We are the guests of some gracious friends who have a place in Davenport. I hope my planner doesn't have all 5 days "scheduled".
Looks like my timing is off.

ladder13, Sal's just bragging again. He waited til I got tired and left then snuck back in and copped another 27. I'll let him tell you about it. Hint-----no dash number.
Lots of guns, lots of Smiths, but I believe there were more guns walking the aisles than on the tables. I have never seen so many aisle guns for sale and the pitiful thing was, none were selling. Every guy walking had one in each hand. Low turnout too, their biggest show is one in January.
I had a 98% 15-3 for sale and Sal had an unfired 6" 28-2 box and all the goodies. Sal and I were both confused, everyone would look at our pieces, comment on what great condition and prices we had on them, then say thanks and walk away. No offers----nothing. Finally about noon I linked back up with Joe aka pharmer and he had finally sold his Remington Model 7, had cash, so he bought my 15-3. I took the cash (had more, but what the hey) and immediately plucked it down with a little more on a mint, I mean mint not a mark anywhere on a 19-4 for $425 OTD.
It's after noon now and I'm now three hours into this thing and tired and need my chili-dog and Diet Dr. Pepper for my travel home treat. Sal, indicates he's going to just look around for few more minutes and leave. So unattended and unsupervised at this point, he skulks back in and sucks up that 27 which he sorta pooh paahed the first time around and look-see. The man is incorrigible and I can't do anything with him anymore. I may have to cut him loose to his own devices.
In the end IT'S MY FAULT as always.

I gotta say, outside of "us", I didn't see any money change hands. The doc bought a .44 mag, I bought Dick's gun, a dealer bought my model 7, Sal and Dick each bought guns and if I didn't pay for 3 admissions and lunch ( I owed the doc), I'd have got back to the house with what I left with. EVERYBODY was carrying something to sell and nothing was moving. Nobody wanting to trade, just sell. Even with ADD I couldn't keep track. I'm tired, but at least not a shot was fired. Joe
