Default Global Warming Is Over

Our Science Czar (didn't know we had one), John Holden, has defined Global Warming away as a "dangerous misnomer". Unfortunately, we are now in the clutches of "Global Climate Disruption".

In the late 70's we had an impending Ice Age and all global oil reserves were supposed to be exhausted in a decade or so. Then... Al Gore saved us from the chill but gave us yet another impending crisis, Global Warming. Today... we have Global Climate Disruption and have too much oil burning. Wonder what will be next?

I was just reading about this. Since the global warming "scientists" were caught in their lies they need a new angle to find reasons to pile on new regulations, tax us to death, and transfer our money to other countries.
The guy who released those e-mails where the global warming hacks were caught hiding or changing results is a major hero. Now Forrest Gump, I mean Al Gore, won't debate anyone on the subject. But he never would before, either.

If we only redistribute income, everything will be ok and the world saved.

After some of the harsh winters over the past few years the idea of Global warming was changed to Climate Change, which I guess few people can argue with since the weather is always changing from year to year. Last years terminology of Climate Change doesn't sound so bad. We now have to have it referred to as Climate Disruption to make it sound more dire and an immediate danger.

I'm sure Al Gore's companies are changing their presentations to make money on the new terminology.

Good point. Million degree fireballs the size of cities is very much prone to causing localized climate disruption!

It will only disappear from the headlines when all energy producers and users (basically all of us) are paying the government more in taxes than is allowed to be earned by those producers. Most here will remember "acid rain" - once utilities were taxed/fined enough, it disappeared as a cause - only to be replaced by GW. When we are all paying a lot more for a lot less energy, everything will be right with the world.

Here's a local example. For years, there was a controversy about how fast the local landfill was filling up because of too much garbage being piled too high (or predicted to be too high in the future.) The solution was to separate yard waste from garbage - ok, fine - now you have to arrange a separate pick-up for yard waste or haul it to special sites throughout the county - on many weekends, the line of vehicles waiting to get in are very long. About six months after this went into effect, the powers to be said that landfill revenue was falling because of not enough waste (duh!). To keep everyone employed, they raised the landfill charges - voila - problem solved in their eyes! Less service at more cost - all regular trash pick-ups now cost more.

We will all be paying much, much more for less and less energy (electric, gas, gasoline) in the future. Why? Because it makes the libs feel good about themselves.

Vote 'em out - all of 'em. Then vote 'em all out again in 2,4 or 6 years.

Sir, a similar thing happened here a few years ago with the drought. (Well, except that the drought was real.) People were encouraged to conserve water, so they did. And then all of a sudden the water company wasn't making any money because water use had dropped, so they raised rates.

Semper Fi,

Ron H.

Acid rain, ice age, global warming, AIDS, bird flu, swine flu, coffee.... If we had just listened to all these experts we would all be dead 100 times over by now.

Ethanol in gasoline is another grand government idea. Straight gas the old truck got 21.5 mpg. With gasohol, I'm grateful to get 18.5 mpg.

Now explain how the old Chevy 283 got 22 mpg and polluted the air. Engine size goes to 307, 100 feet of vacuum tubing, no power, gets 12 mpg and you can breathe the exhaust.

Thank you government intervention and making the world safer and cleaner.

Unfortunately, the issue of global warming--which is undoubtedly real, as evidenced by the accelerated melting of ice sheets and glaciers--has become hopelessly entangled in the politics of whether it is a natural or man-made phenomenon.

Nobody knows the answer to this question, but both sides are arguing based on emotion more than reason.

Ethanol is the biggest pork barrel scam in history. Every gallon of ethanol produced puts us further and further from energy independence. The simple fact is it takes more energy to produce a gallon of ethanol than that same gallon of ethanol produces. Big corporate farmers are getting rich off of the government subsidies but the ripple effect is nothing short of disastrous world wide. The ethanol industry has the congress and the president bought and paid for...we are truly screwed on this one!

Yep, glad to see that global "climate change" is no longer a concern. I guess someone needs to tell the people of the Kiribati islands so they can forget their plan to buy land on the mainland to move to since their islands are being covered by rising waters. And push them 10-20,000 walruses that came on shore because the polar ice is gone in their usual habitat that it's ok, they can head on back up there... everything's gonna be just fine!

Considering that the natural climate for the world is about 90% ice age for the past some hundreds of thousands of years, I think we ought to be glad for a little warming. Glaciers are a lot more disruptive to your lifestyle than a heat wave. And from what can be told, the glaciers can walk a long way in a man's lifetime.

I guess I can get rid of all those heavy clothes I was told I'd need, back in the 60's and 70's.

As I recall it was a lot warmer 1200-1000 years ago than it is now, and mankind and all the furry animals that lived in the artic survived it. Lets hope for a little global warming. Icecaps a mile thick over Chicago would put a crimp in our politics.

Jared Diamond in his book "Collapse" explains it well and will also scare the **** out of you. He is not into "global anything" but shows how "civilization" is it's own worse enemy.
Fortunately those of us alive today will not see the results of our decisions today..

Greenland was green when they first discovered it. (Not so named to mislead people into moving there). We entered into a "mini" ice age. About the time Columbus "discovered" the new continent, the last of the Norsemen living in Greenland were freezing to death.

It got the name from the lush green landscape during the summer around the fjords and in the southern part.

Colder than a witch's whatever in the winter though.
