Default where did all the good people go?

just got home from work to find out our camp got broken into sometime this week. i had 2 chainsaws stolen. a camper destroyed inside, and the camp, a singlewide trailer, destroyed inside. don't know if they stole my old '72 18 horse ski-doo yet. got that when i was 12. not real happy at the moment. guess the camp down the road got it too. there was nothing valuable in either camp/camper. only my junk pouland saws, but it's just whats the point of wrecking stuff you know? we never locked them, just so nobody would rip locks off etc... just bummed i guess. you would think with all the piles of brass all over the place they wouldn't hang around long, as that is our shooting range to.

Thats messed up. I wish I could help. I remember that up until about 1968 or so-you could leave your Colorado cabin vacant-and not worry about it. Then the bums that thought what you had should be theirs (the Govt.?) started breaking in and tearing places up. The pot heads that pulled those little stunts are now among us as adults-they still think your stuff should be theirs.

Outside of child molesters, rapests, and murderers, there is nothing I hate worse than a theif of any kind. If I had my way all of the above would be exicuted if found. Even shoplifters.

I have a place up in Wayne County that I can only get to about 2 or 3 times a year. Always crossing my fingers that no one messes with it.

From the destruction in your description, it sounds like punks more than tweakers or pro thieves.

Not sure if that's helpful, but I can hope that it leads you to the BG's.

A sack full of door knobs seems appropriate.

Well that might be okay! Seriously, I am not talking about a 13 year old here but adult people that should know better. If you have say a 25 year old man breaking in cabins and your house I will bet its not his first time or last. I also bet if you were to examine his life you would find dishonner in every corner and decision in it. He couldnt be trusted with one thing, he isnt a giver or provider to his family or soceity, he costs his victims and even extended soceity through higher insurance, cost of goods and if discovered, the cost of court and keeping him in a petting zoo. I cant think of one reason to keep him alive save one. That is by not killing him he MIGHT someday, maybe 40 years later, find jesus.
I am sorry, but I have been ripped off too many times of valuable goods dear to me, to even want to understand them. I really am a very giveing person. I have picked bums off the street and paid their motel bills, bailed people out of jail that I didnt know for compassion of the family, put up people etc. A lot of that was when I was a lot younger and single and didnt have a wife and family to answer to.
But after getting ripped off by even people I knew, I guess I have hardend. As recent as 3 days ago we tryed to help out with bags of goods this couple in the picture that has been camping on the street a mile from our house. I wrote yesterday on another thread about it. Turned out they didnt want much help but want to live that way.

Not criticizing your idea, just lamenting the fact that so many people are thieves.

MR. IRC - I'm sorry to hear about the theft and destruction of your property.
It's my belief that Karma will prevail and these Turds will get their's (hopefully tenfold) sooner or later.

Mr. IHC, You might be surprised at what an inexpensive digital IR trail camera or two will capture when hidden in out of the way places around your camp. We caught images of a couple of meth heads cooking up their goods in one of our barns last year. Local SD arrested them on criminal trespass warrants resulting in guilty convictions for both on all five charges of criminal trespassing. They both got the max sentence of 30 days per charge x five charges, to be served concurrent. They both where out of the pokey after seventeen days, but the best part is they have not been back to our farm since then. BTW, make sure that the camera(s) you buy/have have the date and time stamp option enabled.

That was my first thought as well. Miscreants tearing everything up trying to find firearms. They may have been successful in the past in finding hidden treasures at other woodland campsites.

a friend of mine had made a statement awhile back about economy linking to crime.
its not that we, the elders default to thievery in hard times, its our kids.
though we might try to teach them different, when faced with the mindless "requirement" to keep up with their peers, many get their iphones, and ipods via direct or indirect theft.
that reminds me .. I really need to get that guy some ammo before their window plants fold up ... he's going to need it.

Child molesters, rapists and murders ARE thieves, of a sort. Of innocence, of dignity, and of life itself.

went up and inspected the damage today, looks like they were looking for copper pipes and wire. not much of either up there. they ripped the radiant heat ducts up and the kitchen sink cupbourd apart. flipped all the beds over and ripped out the heat vents. left my farmall h alone and my massey harris 22 alone? and a skidder as well. only took what they could carry, as we have a gate they did not get their vehicle through. going up tomarrow to get things in order.

Sorry that you were stolen from. I have been there. It makes you dream about being there next time with that Remington 870. Unfortunately as decent jobs continue to vanish and not come back, we will see a lot more career changes to burglary. Load up on 12 guage...
