How often do you clean your handguns?
Lets limit this to revolvers and semi autos. Not rifles or bench rest shooters.

My blued k14 & 17 get cleaned after every range trip. My Semi autos may go several range trips between cleanings. I just spent 2 hours cleaning my 4506-1, P226 and Stoeger Cougar tonight.

All my handguns are shooters.I can't get not cleaning tupperware so they still get a cleaning after every session.(That's the way I was raised)
If I had any safe queens I'd clean them at least every time I thought they needed it,probably about once a year but let's define cleaning.I don't think you need to over do it.
Any guns that might be wallhangers need a little more care than a safe gun and a little less than a shooter.
Carry guns, I wouldn't know(0;
I voted for #1 'cause that's the most representative of my condition.

I usually run a bore swab through them before (if it hasn't been to the range in a while) and after I shoot them. A thorough cleaning after shooting if deemed necessary.

A clean gun is a sign of a wasted life.
Oh...please substitute the word "house" for "gun" in the above statement.

Granted I selected "Every time I shoot them, regardless of rounds fired" but in reality its if I have time afterward. If not then I will do it next time.

They get cleaned each and every time they are fired. Even if they are not fired they get wiped down with a silicone gun cloth occasionally.

I don't clean 'em until the cylinder binds up from the crud.
Just kidding!
I clean after every time I shoot one if it is blued or my carry piece. If it is stainless steel and just a fun range gun, I might let it go until after a second range session before cleaning.

I've seen people leave guns were it looks like a stalactite of lead on the muzzle end LOL No kidding either.
I clean my guns often regardless if I shoot it or not, but need not spend much time on them. I guess you could say it's more like a dusting if you will.

If I shoot it, I clean it! A properly maintained firearm will not let you down. However I do lend some creedence to the old, "more guns are ruined by cleaning than shooting". Ya gotta do it right to be sure. I've seen a lot of oval shaped bore's "on rifles" at the muzzel from improper cleaning rod use.

Sir, it depends on what I've been doing with the gun. "Range toys" get cleaned every two-three hundred rounds. Field guns might get cleaned a couple times a day, depending on what they've been exposed to.
Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Bore Snakes have spoiled me, I pull one through every time I shoot, but I don't do the through (is that spelled right?) thing until a patch won't come out looking reasonable.
After about 50 rounds I do the chambers and the bore until like new. Top strap, recoil shield, all of it.

Unless used in an especially unfriendly environment, I suspect you can do more harm than good by overzealous cleaning regimens. I try to acquire only stainless guns, and clean them only when operational/functionality issues come up --- otherwise, I ignore them. The exception being carry guns, which I like to have in clean/unfired condition, so that if used, there will be GSR establishing ammo used &tc.

I clean every time I fire them. Once a year I try to run an oily patch down the bore of everything in the collection.

+1 for if it's shot it's cleaned, and a good rub down once or twice a year for any that go unused.

I clean my guns every time I shoot them but I was horrified to learn the deep, dark family secret that my dad rarely cleans his guns and he shoots nearly every day!

Blued guns get wiped off with an oily cloth every time one is handled to protect the blue finish. The cleaning happens when the trigger pull is excessive. 45 acp gets cleaned every third match, 22 LR gets the annual bore snake treatment. I bought them to shoot, not to create a cleaning fetish.

"I do not clean them until they do not work"
I wish I could see who voted that way. Then I'd know who not to buy a gun from.
Actually, I've bought several really dirty guns. Take 'em home, clean 'em up, and you usually find you got a really good deal because some guy never cleans his guns.

dirty gun
I bought a gun a couple weeks ago that the guy said he bought new. I wish they would have sold him a cleaning kit also. From the looks of it, it had never been cleaned. On the other hand, I DID get a screamin deal!

I voted for clean them even if not shot....
I clean every time after I fire one no matter what.
If I've gone a month or so without firing one, I'll clean it.

My father taught me never to let the sun go down on a fired but uncleaned gun. Probably drilled into him in his high school ROTC days when corrosive primers were used. At any rate, I took his advice with my .22 rifle when I was a kid, and I still clean every gun I shoot immediately or as soon as possible when I get home from the range. I think it helps me to be "one with the gun." Also, I find it relaxing to take a gun apart and muse over its mechanism - part of the joy of owning firearms.
When a gun is purchased, before I shoot it, I field strip it, clean it, lubricate it, and wipe it down. Then and only then do I consider it ready to shoot.
However, once a gun is cleaned after firing, it may sit for years without another cleaning. Here in dry southern Arizona, that's never been a problem. Some of my old original muzzle-loaders that I haven't shot in many years get their bores wiped, the locks lubricated, and wiped down about every 5 years or so just to help preserve them. Probably not needed, though.

if I just sent a few down range ... a quick swabbing of the bore.
If I foul a 629 to be indistinguishable from a 29 ... we get a little more thorough.

I used to clean them after shooting, but now I only do that with the revolvers. Almost all my autos are target guns with very tight tolerances, and I've decided that stripping them down to clean them was adding additional wear, especially to the bushing on my 1911s. Now I don't clean them until they malfunction. Being 1911s, that means a loooooong time between cleanings.
My house gun is a 625, which I keep clean.

Depends on how often I use em. I have weekly shooters that I only clean once a month or so. Others that I don't shoot very often get cleaned after each use.

Use a Bore Snake and good wipe down before I leave the range. When I get home it’ a complete cleaning, and yes I keep patching until the last patch used is as clean coming out as it was going in; followed by a coat of wax or a wipe down with a silicon cloth.

When they don't function correctly -- stop working is a sure sign cleaning is required. Blue guns get wiped down with a oily cloth every time it is handled.

Shoot and clean, Glocks included (although they run fine even when unbelievably filthy). I manage to get it done the same day about 99% of the time; occasionally something comes up and I can't but I get back to them within a day or two at most. Something that I am carrying on me that is picking up lint or whatever gets a little brushing now and then to knock it off.
Kind of obsessive/compulsive I suppose, but I like to think doing so has kept me clear of needing the gunsmith, which is a good thing because we sure don't have anybody anywhere near here that can be relied on.

I was raised to clean with every outing and used to do that. Also policy at work where I faithfully cleaned my issue .40 every time I shot it. But I noticed I was about the only one on my team who did so. And I must admit, thanks to smokeless powder and laziness, my personal guns sometimes skip a cleaning between outings now and again.

I shoot mostly lead, so the last cylinder full is FMJ followed by a Bore Snake dampened with Kroil, while they are still warm.
At home they get Bore Snaked again, wiped down with slightly oiled cloth followed by a soft, lint free flannel before being put away.
I Clean with brushes and patches only when needed, or when I'm out of Primers and/or Bullets and/or Powder, and all my empty brass has been washed, deprimed and tumbled.
