That's actually not a Smith & Wesson, though it shoots a cartridge that bore the S&W name. I think that may be an Iver Johnson revolver. When I Google for Iver Johnson hammerless revolver, pictures of guns with profiles like yours come up.

Early 1900s, I'd guess.

#2 in this photo is a very similar Iver Johnson
From Iver Johnson, Harrington & Richardson, other pocket pistol information
Yours would probably not be a 38 special - more likely a 38 S&W, which is not the same.

Most likely an Iver Johnson, but also possibly a U.S. Revolver Co. piece.

What is stamped on the top of the barrel?
That will help immensely.

Iver Johnson revolvers have an Owl on the grip.
Not realy familiar with different ages om them
but the older ones have a trigger safety,
my nickel one is from the late 1880?
And the blued one is from 1930 something?

Welcome to the Forum, Raymond4646. What does it say on top of the barrel rib? That's the 1st clue as to the gun's origin. Ed.
