Default Information needed

I am not sure I am posting this at the correct place or not but here goes....I have "inherited" some guns from my grandfathers estate. One gun in particular seems to drawl quite abit of attention. It is a SW 38 Special Revolver and the Model number is listed as CTG. It is Nickle/Chrome plated. Any info you can give me as to its value would be appreciated. Thanks!

I imagine it says on the right side of the barrel "S&W 38 SPECIAL CTG," with "CTG" meaning "cartridge." This is not the model number. Post some photos, please. You could post the serial number found on the butt of the gun, or, the model number found on the yoke where it joins the crane which is visible from the left side with the cylinder open.
