Default Bill Jordan footage

I am wondering is there any places out there that has footage of Bill Jordan and his fast draw? I can't find anything on youtube but was wondering if there is any somewhere.

I spent an afternoon shooting with Bill. I don't know if you would believe footage if you saw it.

He was Quick!

In 1975 I was fortunate to see one of Bill Jordan's last live shooting exhibitions. Not only was he fast, he was just as accurate as he was fast. The exhibition took place in an old theater in Raton, NM, one of the most imppressive shots Bill made that night was drawing and shooting an aspirin tablet off a golf tee at a distance of 25 feet or so. The other was Bill holding a ping pong ball on the back of his hand level with the butt of his holstered gun, drawing and shooting the ping pong ball before it hit the floor. I was sorry that I did not get an autographed copy of his book at that time.

I belive bill was actualy a actor on a couple tv segments about some police series, he didnt last long but was kind of a sidekick. I can picture the main actor but forgot his name. I will research it. It was called nevada highway patrol or something like that. I will try to get back with more accurate info. I have the main actors name and name of the show somewhere back in my mind but just cant bring it up!

This isnt what I was looking for, however it is a nice writeup on him by skeeter skelton.
Bill Jordan - Top Gun

Someplace I read he had appeared in a episode or two with john broomfield in sheriff of cochise, later named U.S. Marshalls. I couldnt verify this. I did read he also was on I got a secret and whats my line?, also demostrated on a couple other shows. I also have his book "No scound place winner.

As I recall, "Fast & Fancy Shooters" has a 10-15 minute segment that Bill did for the NRA. Pretty good.

I saw Bill Jordan do some things with a revolver that I'd have trouble believing, had I not seen him do them.

Does anyone know what an autographed copy of, No Second Place Winner is worth these days?

Depends on the way it was autographed and the condition of the book. Since the book is still in print, it alone is not worth much in value. A generic autograph is more valuable when not dedicated to a named individual.

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if someone may have found some new leads on video of Bill doing his shooting exhibitions. Pics of the same would be great too.

I met Bill Jordan at the NRA Convention in Reno about 1987 or so. I'm 5' 9"and he towered over me. He was 6'7". I mentioned the Kennedys [Ted]& corrected me, said they were the kidneys.Great man & a good hunter.

I recall seeing a demonstration he did on TV once, I think it was the old "You Asked For It" show. He was point shooting aspirins using what I think was an M&P. Needless to say I was impressed.

Bill was responsible for getting S&W to make a K frame in .357.He was really sucessfull in that. Without his help we wouldn't have these wonderful guns we all now enjoy. RIP Bill Jordan.

I talked with him several times and examined some of his guns. He used G.W. Stone's custom sheath knives, and we all three spent an enjoyable afternoon at G.W.'s shop one day when I was there to interview Stone for an article in a knife title. Bill just drove in from Shreveport and dropped by.

He mentioned using one of those knives to open up 28 head of African big game without sharpening it. G.W. took one of his knives and banged it edge first into a metal column in his shop without damage. He had a unique heat treatment that stood his products in good stead. He used 440C steel, but got better results from it than most knifemakers back then did.

Bill had a S&W M-59 with him that day. He did own autos, although generally preferring revolvers.

Gad, he was fast with a gun! Most people seeing him on film would think the camera was speeded up for Hollywood special effects.

I just got this from blachawknj:
Bill Jordan's TV program

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was called "U.S. Border Patrol", the star was Richard Webb-"Captain Midnight/Jet Jackson." 1959, only lasted one season. I recall Bill Jordan writing that it wandered out into left field.

Bill Jordan also had the largest hands I have ever seen on any individual. I always wondered how he was able to get his fingers inside a trigger housing. He was an amazing person and a great man. When he moved to TX from Shreveport, I lost contact with him but he was a fine person.

I think I just missed meeting Bill Jordan one day in 1979. I was in Rhodesia for the world's championship IPSC shoot, staying at the hotel Monomatapa in Salisbury. I heard talk about a huge American that was in the bar, might even have heard "Bill Jordan" mentioned but he was gone when i got there!

Bill Jordan put on a exibition at the trial of Bill Cantrell in Rock Springs Wy. He wowed every body including the jury....When asked on cross if he was the fastest man he knew he calmly answered "no the defendent is faster than I am most of the time"...Ed Cantrell was aquited of the shooting of his out of control undercover guy...Those were in the wild days of Rock Springs.........Cantrell had been brought in as Public Safety Director to get things under control........

Never saw Bill Jordon shoot, but I've studied his book. In my cop days I was a FTO, I made all my rookies read the book as part of their training.

When my son got into LE the first thing I did was buy him "No Second Place Winner".

I think it should be required reading for all cops.

Sadly the tails of the border in "No Second Place Winner" would get you thrown in jail by Holder........We have lost our focus of what is right and what is wrong...Jordon was a Cops, Cop, a Marines, Marine, AND ONE OF THE BEST SHOTS IN THE LEO BUSINESS, and one heck of a Border Patrolman......The story of the dropped gun by a border jumper into the river, from a corragated bridge still makes me smile............Shame on me I guess...

Default Bill JORDAN

not just a shooting showman but a real deal lawman with targets that shot back. I read one of his favorite pistols was a model 10 3" with app 1/2 the trigger guard on the right removed to help get his fingers in.

Boys, I grew up in Shreveport, La. One of my best friends married Bill Jordans niece. Maries real Father, was killed in WWII ( a pilot as I remember). Bills Sister was Maries Mother. Bill gave Marie away at the ceremony. I am 6'6' and not of the tiny digits myself. Bills hand wrapped half way around mine every time we shook hands I was embarassed. I have never seen, before or since, a man with hands that large.

To make matters worse from an ego standpoint, Maries Matron of Honor was married to Tony Liscio, offensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys out of the University of Tulsa. I have a picture somewhere of me standing between the two of them looking like the worlds tallest midget.

A tough man but a gentlemans gentleman. I always enjoyed being around Bill Jordan.

Did you meet David W. Arnold then? He was on that team, I think, for Rhodesia. (He was South African by birth.)

I met him after he moved his family to the USA and edited Petersen's Handguns. I still have some wooden animal carvings that he sent me from Rhodesia.

Did you know Gavin Carson? Also a Rhodesian IPSC shooter.

The big American may have been Jeff Cooper, if not Jordan.
(David was a big man, too, but not American.)
