Nah, that can't be Caje's truck. I don't think he would have them 'Gators in such a prominent position.

It brings back memories (not Caje's truck, the not locking part.)

About 20 years ago we were in Moab, UT for a jeeping event. Back then, they almost rolled up the sidewalks at dark. But they had one good restaurant back then, the Golden Stake (for the stake that joined the east and west construction of the railroad.) It wasn't great, just the best for maybe a hundred miles or so. And right next door to it was the local Ferd Motor dealership.

The night in question there was a pickup truck pulled in to the last bay, essentially right next to the glass of the restaurant. It was a Chevy, by the way. The dealership was closed for the day, no problem. But in the back of the truck were 3 teathered timber wolves. You know, big doggish looking critters, like giant german shepards. Only bigger. Kinda cool. It was better than any floor show I've seen in years. They were relatively calm but clearly wary. And I wasn't even tempted to walk over and pet the nice doggies. They looked very competent at defending their turf.

But we got a nice meal and spent maybe an hour watching the nice little pooches. When a local PD car went past, siren going, they all went into full howl mode. Worth the price of dinner just to witness. As we were finishing up, we asked the waitress if our steak scraps could be given to the puppies. She laughed. There was a bucket filling up fast by the cash register! So she pointed to the owner and we walked over to talk with the guy.

He said he drives in to town about once a month. It was always good for 10 to 15 pounds of prime steak for them. Yes, they didn't demand fresh kill, they accepted cooked just fine.

He also said with them there, no one has ever stolen anything out of the truck. Go figure. Even thieves have standards, I guess.

Here is a itty bitty picture I screwed up of a 49 ford delivery panel I had 40 years ago. Caje`s is a 49 too. I remember giveing a $125s for this one. Thats my folks and me standing in front of it. I traded that truck for a rare stagg-built rifle, a 30-30 over a 12 guage that looked like a winchester 94. The last time I seen that truck it was restored and featured in a hot rod magazine.
