Talking My best long range group yet

My son, nephew and I were out shooting last weekend. Newphew isn't allowed to own guns or hunt, so we're letting him get a belly full to take back home to his family and friends in South Korea.

Anyway, I broke out he 700 VLS with 10 X 40 Tasco on it to play a little. After I got it sighted in from 400 to 300 this is the best group I shot off a wobbly table and rifle rest.

There are three shots touching in the right hand splatter.

Remington 700 VLS 243. Speer 85 grain BTSP, 38.5/IMR 4064 Remington cases, COAL of 2.625

Looks like you've got the perfect zero minute of angle gun/load combination.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I had orginally bought this gun with the faster twist to shoot the 105's and 107's. Two years ago I worked up some pretty tight groups with the Hornady 105 AMAX. Last year I got hold of 500 of the Speer 85's and decided to load them all up so my son and I could spend a few afternoons together. Shot about 200 last year and was easily hitting a clay pigeons hanging on a wire at 400 yards. Wasn't able to shoot the 400 last week, so I had to tune her down to 300. I shot 2 shots through one hole at 200 while re-sighting the other day and was impressed....until I shot the steel plate. I could see the first two touching through the scope, but had no idea I could shoot another one on top of them. The plate is hanging in my shop. I may never shoot it again! :-)

Bought 300 Sierra 107's several months ago. Can't wait to start working on them. Deer season starts Thanksgiving morning and I try not to shoot much till it ends in late Feb.

thanks,
SC
