Pipesmokers, what's your favorite "English blend"?
I used to smoke Dunhill My Mixture 965, since Dunhill is out of the tobacco business I am looking for a comparable replacement. Suggestions? Where do you buy it?

I've been smoking a blend from Edwards Pipe and Tobacco shops called Scottish Moor. It's been my favorite since 1969. Actually, any of the Edwards blends are good. Give them a try.

Check out Home - Uhle Tobacco Company . I've been ordering from them for over 40 years. Great tobacco and good people to deal with. My favorite is their blend #255, but your taste may be different.

Cup O Joes Coffee Cigars & Pipe Tobacco Pipe
I haven't tried any of the Altadis replacement tobaccos yet but I thought I'd pass along the info. (Was thinking of ordering some of the Amphora substitute but the lone review on that site wasn't too favorable)

Since I've stopped drinking I prefer the Ghetto blend in my pipe. All natural of course.

I have even more pipe tobacco in my basement than ammo. I'm unlikely to run out of 965 in the next decade or two, but if I did I'd restock with "Tuggle Hall" from Craig Tarler:

I miss the Balkan Sobranie (even still dream about it). Haven't smoked a pipe in years; sorry to hear Dunhill is gone.
Are Uppmann Corona Majors still around? Caviar Cafe? Troikas? 555 in the yellow tin? Does a Hero still grace our boxes of Virginia tobacco cigarettes?

Sobranie cigarettes can be had in Europe, but they aren't the same. I liked the Black Russians. They used to use tobacco grown around Sarajevo. After the war, they had to change sources and they didn't taste the same.
Dunhill is supposed to be coming back to the U.S. market Dunhill Pipe Tobacco Returns to the US | Pipes Magazine - Community for the 21st Century Tobacco Pipe Smoker
I like the Night Cap.
That reminds me, I need a new pipe, burned a hole in my Eriksen so I've been smoking pipe tobacco rolled up in cigarette papers.
I'm poor, so I mostly smoke the stuff in the big bags from Walgreens, only 11 bucks and they last a month. Shrug. Dunhill is good stuff though. Save the tins, people will buy them to use for SAS style surival kits and what not.

I don't know of a replacement for Dunhill 965 as pressed Virginia tobaccos are my cup of tea. Of the English blends I have tried I like McClelland's Frog Morton the best.

I used to wonder into Tobacconists when ever I traveled, and would usually come home with a new blend or two. Now that I retired a few years ago, I pretty much have stuck to the canned tobaccos. The one I keep finding myself going back to is an old cheap one.....Granger. I just like the fact that it doesn't have a bite, and I can smoke a few bowls a day without getting tired of a strong aroma. The heavier aromatic tobaccos seem to burn the hell out of my tongue these days, and so the plain ones are now my preference.
Truth be told, I find myself enjoying a fine cigar (with a nice Single Barrel Jack Daniels on the rocks) more than the Pipe these days.

I have your tobacco. It as good or better than the 'old' 965!
It's called "Beck's Ol Limey *******".
Here's the link. B&B Tobacconists :: Cigars, Pipes, Tobacco and Accessories :: Asheville, NC
I have tried the new Dunhill. This is better.

Thanks to Pilgrim for his generousity in sharing a sample of his favorite tobacco with me. Cheers to all my fellow pipe smokers on the forum this holiday season.
