Default Collard Greens, Cracklin' Cornbread, With Protection.

Sunday Dinner today. Got restless in Church just thinking about what was waiting at home.

I could never go collard greens but I never saw any cornbread that I didnt like, when I was still working we were in Calif to do a tech class on SPC and the guys were bragging about the cornbread where we ate, it was Marie Callandar cornbread, I bit into it and looked at my boss, he was watching me, we never said anything about it but when we were at the hotel he said "If I going to eat sweet cake I want icing on it, that stuff was awful". I think they put a lot of sugar in it out there. Jeff

Wink Cracklins!

I grew up eating my momma's cracklin bread. I also loved her spoonbread. We had collards in winter and grits for dinner. My 19 year old daughter loves cracklins. I just sent a supply to her at her university in Ohio...Yep, she's up north and is pining for some good, Southern home cooking. She has introduced some of her northern friends to the joys of cracklins. I don't like cornbread that tastes like sweet cake. If I want it sweet, that's what molasses and cane syrup is for!

I could die in that pan of collards! The pic of the pan with the taters and veggies (stew?) makes my mouth water, too!

Looks good but that plate has some room on it. What's in the other pot, looks like carrots and taters? Wouldn't be a roast in there? Got to have some meat. Unless you're one of them veggie-terians.

That plate needs some meat! Squirrels and gravy?, pork neck bones? etc.
