I have the consumer's half of a S&W warranty card from my 34-1. It is dated 3-24-82, lists the proper serial number and model number, and for place of purchase this notation:

"Bullet Hole 96th & Keystone."

Does anyone have any idea of the place whereof this speaks?

also had one in Greenwood in. He was killed in a car crash in the 1990s
It has been out of Business since then .In the 1980s it was run by Rick Mount of Ind Pacers fame

FWIW there is also a shop in Overland Park, KS called the Bullet Hole. 65th and Metcalf area. Also has an indoor range. I've bought and traded a few there over the years.

These shops were in Indianapolis the one on the south side was started about 1973. The one on the north side was started later but not exactly sure when. These shops were owned at least initially by James Shirley and it is true he was killed in a car crash sometime around 1995.

It is actually on Robinson street, just west of Metcalf a few blocks. I believe it was originally owned or affiliated with Hodgdon powder, as their corporate offices were adjacent to it.

Shot a lot of bowling pins and .22 silhouettes in the basement there. Wish they still did it.

^I belonged to a gun club (Mill Creek?) that met there (about '79-80 or so). Bruce Hodgdon was often present.

Wow, I saw the title and thought, there's one I can answer! Didn't know so many would know about the Bullet Hole. I went in there a lot back in the 80's. I think I only bought one gun from them, and can't remember what it was, I know it wasn't a model 34. lol Got a lot of ammo from him tho.
The same time the Hole was open, the infamous Don Davis of Don's Guns had his north side shop right across on the east side of Keystone. You could be at either store and see the other. Personally, I liked The Bullet Hole better than Don's.

I've lived in Indy for nearly 30yrs., I visited the southside store on a few occassions but never the one at 96th and Keystone. Lots of the old haunts around the Indy area sadly are gone. I used to love to visit the original Galyan's out in Plainfield and a lot of others.

Now if it had of been 34, and we could match numbers that would have been great!!!!

I had confidence that as many people as we have here someone might have an idea. This is just a great place.
