Talking Pair of custom Mausers

In the mid 90's I bought these two when I lived in Colorado at a gun show and it was my deal of all time. A man from Wyoming had 3 custom Mausers built and then while they were being built he died. The builder received a call from his wife and she said he paid 50% up front and I don't want the guns or the money so sell them for whatever deal makes it right to you.

He had a 25-06, a 30-06, and a 338 Win mag and when I saw them I fell in love with the 25-06 so I asked how much and he said if you buy 1 they are $550 and if you buy 2 or more they are $500 each. So I bought the 25-06 for $550 and it came with a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5 by 10 scope on it. The stock on this rifle is outstanding.

I got his card and the 25-06 and left the show and I called him later that night and he told me he had sold the 3338 Win Magnum but still had the 30-06 so I said I wanted it and I would be there when the show opened the next morning. When I got there he sold it to me for $500 and I was happy as a clam. That rifle came with a Leupold Vari-X III 2.5x7 scope and it's still on the rifle. The stock on this rifle is mineral streaked and looks better in person then the picture shows.

Both of them are excellent rifles and very accurate and have served me well over the years. I took the scope off of the 25-06 and put it on a rifle I gave to my son.

Incredible deal...and I think that you got the two best calibers of the three.
About 10 years ago,I got a bargain on an highly optioned Dakota.Thought that I stole it.As part of a recent downsizing and having absolutely no need of a centerfire,I sold it.I thought that the buyer got an absolute bargain himself, but that was the best that I could do.I enjoyed having it as a safe queen for that time, still ended up doubling my money,so no regrets.

Both are beautiful rifles but that 25-06 is spectacular. Congratulations.
