Default Tomorrow is the day!

I go in tomorrow for a complete double knee replacement. (Bi-lateral). So here I set, nervous as a cat. Because it's both knees, I'll be gone for at least a week. Mom's all nervous, because of my past stroke. It seems like nothing is ever easy. Hopefully, this will allow me to make spring turkey season for the first time in 23 years. I really look forward to getting this over.

Don't be a tuff guy. Take the meds and stay ahead of the pain. Do the therapy and a little more.

You'll be back in business in no time.

Good luck.

jlrhiner,
congradulations on having a double knee replacement.
One of my closest friends, the man who was Chief of Police before me had a double knee replacement. He always said that it was good that he had both done at the same time because if he had just had one done, he would have never had the other done.

Good Luck.

I met a fellow that worked for the railroad, who had both done.
Shortly after he was up and about, he was a little stiff in his movements, or I'd never have asked what was wrong. A couple
months before I met him again, and didn't know him, because he
had finished healing and therapy. He moves like I used to; no
problems.
I bet it goes just as smooth for you, too.
Just think, 50 or 75 years ago, they'd just let us old duffers crawl around. Some science is just miraculous. TACC1

I knew a man who had to give up his beloved golf and fishing and most of what he liked to do. He could barely walk. He had both knees replaced and after healing and rehab he was able to do all the things he had been missing. It wasn't an easy process but it was a good many years ago and I believe the surgery done now is much improved. I had major abdominal surgery in 09. I had a major stroke in 2002. I came through the surgery just fine. I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery!

May everything go well. My wife who is 86 had one knee done in the last of Sept. and is doing good. The therapy is very important. Good luck.

I had both of my knees replaced in 1999 and haven't look back since. Get up as soon as you can and start walking in a park or some where , where the walking isn't level and you will do fine.

I had only one done almost 2 years ago - it was the absolute best day of my life!!! Just think - NO MORE PAIN. I couldn't take the pain killers because I am allergic to all of them and believe me, the post-op times caused much less pain than the original knee did. The pain was gone literally over-night and my life has been much much happier ever since.

You will not regret this at all.

Yessir! One of my Sioux relatives, who ranches on 20,000 acres in South Dakota, had both knees done sequentially a year apart a few years back. Tim's only complaint was that he should have had them both done together. From a guy couldn't walk a step without pain and a cane, he's gone to ridin' and ropin' and making us younger guys feel like we're totally outclassed in the saddle. I know you'll do at least as well! Good luck, and let us know when you win the 100 meter sprint!!!

I had both done about 3 years ago. Get off the meds as soon as you can and push hard at therapy. You will be glad you did it.

Good luck. I had one done almost 4 yrs ago with no regrets. Take the meds before each physical therapy session. You'll be fine.

jlrhiner,

Best of luck with the surgery and the recovery. I bet the turkeys can sense that Doomsday is on the 2011 calendar for some of them.

I had my right knee replaced Oct. 11 of this year. The Dr. ordered home therapy for 10 days and that worked out very well. The therapist said I could ride my stationery bike after about a week and that also worked out well. I walk and ride the bike everyday, I also do the exercises that are required. It has been 8 weeks since the surgery and I am doing very well and I am pain free. The only thing that I don't like is the clicking and/or popping coming out of my knee. The Dr. says it should stop with time and exercise. I sure hope so as it is uncomfortable and distracting when walking. Good luck and "do what the doctor ordered".

Good luck. Had mine replaced in August and November, 2000.
As many have said DO THE THERAPY. Do more than they tell you and do it more often.
One of the best exercises suggested to me was a rocking chair. You can do it anytime.

Sorry I am just now seeing this. My wife had both knees done at the same time two years ago. Best thing that could have happened.

DO WHAT THE PT TELLS YOU! They really have your best interest in mind.

Best of luck and you have a prayer from Texas for your healing.
