can it be true?
Someone told me today that the bulk of the ammunition used today buy are military in munufactured in and purchased from China.
Please say it an't so

No, not true.
However, it wouldn't surprise me if the Red Army (China) is making ammo faster that we are, for their own use.

I just retired and I never seen any ammo used by the Army made in China.

No ammo used by the US military is manufactured in China.
By the way, the gun in the above picture has been analyzed to death and the conclusion I've seen most often is that the gun was loaded with re-loads, not Chinese manufacture. In fact, a quick check of ammo and I cannot find Chinese manufacture stuff in solid brass cases.

Don't believe everything you see on the internet. That 629 ka-boom was also seen and posted by me some time back on this forum. Lee said that had been investigated, and told me that it was caused instead by an overzealous reloader. Perhaps that guy thought that massive charges of a fast-burning powder ought to be just the ticket to impress folks on the firing line. I guess it was more impressive than he thought. That 629 is the poster child for being very careful when reloading, not for avoiding Chinese ammo. Still, when given a choice, American ammo is highly preferred.
