Do you like it ~ Dirty?
Martini's that is....
I can't choke one down unless it's got some olive juice poured lightly over the top...
Vodka or Gin.... ~ That's the question?

Absolutely!!! I also like my olives stuffed with anchovies and use Bombay sapphire with just a hint of Noilly Pratt. Shaken not stirred!

The one I made earlier this evening consisted of one capful of Martini & Rossi dry vermouth shaken over ice with three shots of Hendrick's gin (a delight, if you can find it...) over three pimento stuffed olives, the oil of which suffuses the gin and floats on the surface. Evard Greig on the stereo ... what are the underprivileged doing tonite ???

I like my Vermouth very dry....
Usually, I just take a still capped bottle of the stuff and .....
Just wave it over the Martini glass....

Arctic vodka martini:
Cracked ice from the glacier
vodka (the good stuff)
Pour the vodka over the ice, strain into a glass, and as you drop in an olive, say "Vermouth."

Thank you. Any other options originating in lower latitudes?

Dry means briefly thinking about a portrait of the man who invented vermouth while you pour the good stuff.

Perfect martini: Hold the gin, hold the vermouth, hold the olives, hold the ice, and double up on the premium vodka.

Best way is the way I take it,
3 parts gin
1 part vodka
a splash of bitters and a large lemon peel.
It makes a drink that a smell similar to gasoline and the 1st one goes down rough. After that its smooth sailing for the next drinks.

Tequila with slice of lemon and sea salt on the rim!
Now, what was the question?

I like 'em straight up, gin, olives, and a drop or two of vermouth. Accompanied by raw oysters...
Jkc, if you don't like near straight vodka, mix it in Gingerale or 7-up. That's a cocktail called a Moscow Mule. Or, mix it in V-8 juice, add a squeeze of lemon, some Tabasco to taste, and you've got a Bloody Mary.

Gin martini ONLY and all you use is vermouth with an olive in it.
Other than that Bushmills and Makers Mark.
