What's the weather like in YOUR neck of the woods?
I've been reading the reports on all the bad weather around the country, and thought it might be interesting to see pics of what you're experiencing as we head into winter. I went a few blocks from my home today and took this picture of Squaw Peak here in Arizona, using my new Pentax K5. It should give you an indication of the severe weather we're experiencing in the Phoenix area!

It has been snowing for 2-3 hours. Small, light flakes. We probaly have 1/2 inch or so already.
Wind is blowing about 10-12 knots, so it is blowing the snow around a little.
Temp is hanging out about 25 degrees, and tonights low should be around 21 degrees. Not a lot of change.
Inside is a toasty 68 degrees, turkey cooking, ham resting, veggies cut up, dip made, cranberry sauce made and the eggnog I made last night is perfect today. Now we are just waiting until 4 or so for the people to show and we will have party.

This is why I don't live anywhere near Phoenix. It is 69.3 degrees with 20% humidity on my back patio right now. Unlike John we never see 120 and humid. Down here, just north of Tucson, we top out around 100 in the summer with 12 to 20% humidity and no bugs. We have been in the mid to high 70's/low 80's for weeks. It is hard to beat the weather here in the high Sonoran desert (3500'), any time of year. Best of luck to everyone facing a real winter.

Syracuse, New York, set a record, a few days ago, for the snowiest ever December on record....70.9" of snowfall. That beats the old record of 70.3" (2000) and the month ain't over yet.

It snowed about four inches last night.
Today it has been snowing off and on.
Around 20 degrees all day.
Tomorrow it is supposed to drop to 10 degrees.
Hibernation seems like a better and better idea.

I'm in "northeast Oklahoma", north of Tulsa.
It has been just a bit "chilly" here for the past week or so, but no real winter weather.
Today was bright to cloudy and the temp was a high of 44 and a low of 24.
Right now at 10:50 p.m. it is 28 and falling.
I see trucks driving around town with snow plows mounted and I'm wondering , "Do they know something I don't?"

Central Montana...light snow and 16 degrees at 0900. About normal for mid December.
We have already had some lows down to -20 but that was back the week before Thanksgiving and into a few days after. Hardly record breaking but a bit early none the less.

Since I moved to Detroit in 1990 I've found that it's in a bit of a "dry slot" in terms of weather so all I can report is about 4 inches of snow and freaking cold. Not the case for my brother who live in my home town, which is in the snow belt around Cleveland. In the past 2 weeks where I've picked up only 4 inches of snow, he's had 2 seperate snowfall events that totalled over 2 feet for each incident. Ninety miles as the crow flies and a near 4 foot difference in snowfall. Right now he's about ready to start worshipping his Cub Cadet.

I don't like this time of year. I don't mind the cold. I don't like the snow turning black and dirty do to all the traffic, and freezing that way for months. I don't like sundown at 1630 and sunup at 0730. Too dark, too long. After New Years it's cold and gray till April. This December has been abnormally cold. 17 degrees when I got up, about normal this year, since the first of the month.

Well, it's cold, about 25 or so but nice and sunny with only about 2-inches of the white fluffy stuff on the ground. Took the boy out this morning for a pull around the yard in his little sled. That kid loves the outdoors.

GLADLY!!!!!
P.S. - I live in higher altitudes southwest of the city...I know we got more than the "official" record here. The official record is what's recorded at Hancock Airport, just north of the city. Plus, with more open fields, the wind blows it around more and makes huge snow drifts.

A few days ago it was 0 with 20 mph winds gusting to 40. Today it is calm and sunny and around 40 degrees. You just never know here in the Missouri Ozarks. I have heard that on average, the weather changes every 11 minutes here. I tend to believe it.
Happy Holy days everyon,
gordon

Sunny and 10°, with piles of snow higher than my head. When I was about five, we used to have piles of snow higher than my head. I always thought the reason we didn't have them anymore now was that my head was higher now. I guess I was wrong.

Weather
Chilly, rainy another dreary day in the Gunshine State, aka Florida. Too many cold fronts have come thru and it isn't even Winter yet.
Cold and damp is what I thought I was getting away from when I moved here 21 years ago. Didn't work out.

Here in Central NJ seasonably cold, enough below 32 degree days to allow the lakes, river, and swamps to freeze, just a thin glaze or so.

Cold - period... with snow on the ground and snow in the air. I'll not be warm, again, until May or June. It's Michigan...
My idea of Winter sports is fluffies, scuffies and Bailey's with coffee.

Woke up in Galveston this morning, at the Hilton on the seawall, too cold to swim, but bright and beaufiful enough for a sunrise walk on the beach. I would guess 60.

What he said! Its been raining for three days straight and we're now under a flash flood alert (worse for those in burn areas). Weather folks are calling for another three to four days of rain, what a way to spend a week of vacation time hunkering down out of the rain . Shoot, I don't even want to hit the gun shops.
