NRA member looking to become a life member - need a lifer, please
NRA Life Members,
I have a little mad money that I would like to put to an NRA Life membership. Not to sound like a cheapskate but I would like to get a 'family discount' rather than pay the full retail price (and I don't have $1k in my mad money sock). So.... if any Life Member is offered a few sponsor slots by the NRA (if that's how it works), would you please let me know (via PM or e-mail)?
Thanks very much.
Chris

I think that it is only good for close family members. They used to have a payment plan that let you pay over time. Maybe they still do. That is how I did it.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give them a call and see what's up. If I have to squirrel away more mad money then that's what I'll do. Rome wasn't built in a day, right?
Thanks again.

Chris, check it out and let me know via pm. If I could "sponsor" you for a discount, I'd be more than happy to.
Edited: Heck Chris, you ARE my cousin, RIGHT?

max & ladder13,
You guys are good eggs! Thanks for the lead and the offer. This is one of the best forums on the world wide web.
I'll post up what I learn from the NRA. I hope they are still in the holiday spirit...
Thanks again.
Chris

Thanks, Badkarma_1! With the quick offers of sponsorship, I'm getting kind of a warm a fuzzy feeling here.
Sip: LOL (as usual). If I'm ladder13's cousin and you are related to him, too, then I guess it's true that Papa was a rollin' stone.

Dr. Austin,
The NRA will open up discounted 'friends and family' memberships once or twice a year. Typically, a good soul will start a thread on a forum and sponsor a bunch of people to become life members at the lower rate. As mentioned, I've seen Life memberships as low as $300 from time to time but when I called up, the best I could do was about twice that (DOH!).
In any case, keep an eye open for new threads with "NRA Life Membership" in the title and you can consider sealing the deal. I may not always agree with the NRA but they are the biggest voice out there for enthusiasts. I also recommend GOA and NGRA if you can spare a little cash to increase the membership statistics.

If you attend an NRA annual meeting, they offer discounted membership upgrades there. I became a life member at 21 on the installment plan and have upgraded when checking in at the meetings.
Regards.

OK folks, here's your chance. I just got in the mail today an offer from the NRA to sign up family and friends, that's you , for a lifetime membership at the fee of $300. I paid more than that 10 years ago. I have slots to sign up 8 people. The way it's set up is that I need to send the info in with payment. You would need to provide name-address-phone-email address and DOB. In addition to a Lifetime membership you get a choice of magazine.
So the deal is, you would send me the money, since I need to pay for the memberships. I would wait until at least a few members were interested before collecting any money, then send all in at once. I can call the NRA and find out if I could sponsor members 1 at a time if people felt better about that.
Lee, as well as about 2000 other members here, have my name address and phone number. Of course I would give you the same info.
I'm just throwing this out there, since some asked, you can decide for yourself.

Been a Life since 1959 & went Endowment a couple of years ago. I paid 100 bucks in '57 & paid $12.50 every 3 months till paid. Much different now but in '57 I was making a hundred bucks a week. So welocome to the NRA Life club, a fine organization. Only game in town.

It took 2 minutes to upgrade after a 19 minute wait. Time and money well worth spent.
