SONS of GUNS
Discovery Channel's All-New Series, SO… : Discovery Communications
Was watching TV last night. This show comes on and I'm watching with interest....and suddenly it's heyyyyy that looks like Baton Rouge!!! And it was! Proud of the local boys
So we got a Swamp show, a gun show-I'm hoping next they want to do a show about a swamp lawyer with a twisted sense of humor that likes whisky and S&W revolvers and brooks no &%^$ from anyone. Except his wife. And his daughters. And Handejector

I gotta disagree. While they may do some good work, I'm far from impressed by the folks in the show, trust me, this does NOT portray the gun culture in a positive light. Never mind the fact that half the stuff said was complete and utter nonsense, mounting shotguns underneath a rifle is nothing new, shotguns have been suppressed since the '70's and the "grenade launcher" was nothing more than a 37mm flare launcher that you can buy anywhere, and for one helluva lot less than $1500; it was not a 40mm DD.
Color me not impressed with these folks and/or their antics.

Caj; Is this the show where they dig up old rotten logs out of the swamp? If so where are the Cotton Mouths, Alligators & Water Moccasins? Oh, Hell I know, it's in the court room. LOL

Gotta go along with Steave on this one. Watched the show and was not impressed at all. Saw a whole lot of stuff that I would question whether or not it was even legal. A suppressed shotgun? Doesn't that require advance approval from the ATF before it is made?

No, they are obviously an 07/02 mfg.; I'm really not up on manufacturing regs, but after an 07/02 manufactures a Title II device they have either 24 or 48 hours to file a Form 2.
I didn't see anything illegal, however, other folks on reality shows have run into legal issues because of what was televised. The firearms business, especially when dealing with Title II stuff, can be a legal minefield, so who knows what could happen. Caj, you might want to pay 'em a visit and get a retainer from them.

Being tied closely with the legal profession, I am constantly reading about lawyers, their tactics and their backgrounds.
Cajunlawyer reminds me of a story I read about the famed F. Lee Bailey, like Cajunlawyer, a criminal defense attorney.
Mr Bailey, a fresh young attorney at the time, walked into a restaurant in MA to have lunch with a friend. As Mr Bailey sat down with his friend, he pulled a 1911 from his waist and laid it on the table. The friend questioned him as to why the need for a gun. Mr Baily answered, "I just got a man off with murder and he paid me $10,000 cash. There is not going to be anyone that takes that money from me."
We have to remember that this incident took place long ago. Times have changed. Now a phone call to Cajunlawyer costs three times that much but Cajun keeps his 1911 handy.

Maybe it is a generational thing. I saw a few minutes and thought that this wasn't the way I wanted gun people portrayed. I won't be watching any more of it.

We've seen a number of postings, including this one, in regards to firearms use. I think I can boil this down to one thought. I had firearms instructors as a Boy Scout (for a merit badge), in the military and as a LEO. Every time I touch a firearm I should be asking myself: "What would my instructor say if he were here now?". Think about that the next time you watch this show, see anyone else handling a firearm, or do so yourself.

I was truly astonished to NOT hate it. In fact, it was quite entertaining.
It was bizarre to see a gunsmith who'd never HEARD of an M-203. I knew what those were in grade school in the '60s!

Watched a little of it. Didn't do a thing for me. Of course, I have no interest in silencers, grenade launchers, or any other Title 2 stuff, but I can understand the appeal to some.
I also got a kick out of the "formula" of having a good looking young gal that seems to have more business sense than any of the backroom boys. (Think the wife in Storage Wars, the tatted lady on American Pickers, the daughter on the Alaskan Bush pilot series which I can't remember the name of. Seems like another plot to make us guys look like doofuses while the women have all the sense. )
The only show that doesn't use this formula (yet) is Pawn Stars. They may have to get rid of the Old Man and hire a woman.
The main thing that drives me nuts on Pawn Stars is Rick always saying that "This antique gun will be worth a lot more if it will fire." I'm just waiting to see them blow the side out of a 17th Century wheel-lock of something similar. (Of course, they probably wouldn't show it. )

As a city boy, it was entertaining for me to watch a good old boy cajun make guns. I hope he obtained patents for his work. I did think he overcharged his local cops for those SWAT speciality guns. I could do without his overacting daughter, 'only two people can deal with him, God and me'. Come on, did the producer tell you to say that remark? There are far worse reality shows on tv today.

We watched both episodes and even my wife got a kick out of it. The formulaic 'cute office girl' was obvious, but what the hey...it's a lot better than most of the **** on TV. I've got it, along with 'Pickers' and 'Flying Wild Alaska' set to grab new episodes on the DVR. I just wish they'd televise 'Ice Pilots NWT' here in the states.

I think the show is awesome. Its not for everyone. Red Jacket makes alot of AK's and Saiga conversions. They do really good work. I have a weapon getting ready to be sent off. Its a reality show and their has to be some antics

There is nothing illegal on the show . Will is licensed to manufacture suppresors , SBR's and everything else you saw on the show . I've toured the shop and met the staff . There is some really neat stuff hanging on the walls . I'm talking museum quality stuff .

IF she were my daughter, and IF she worked for me, and IF she rolled her eyes at me like a spoiled teenager while at work, she'd be UNEMPLOYED in nothing flat, show or no show.

Yeah; Watched the one about making a door buster rifle/ shotgun. They tried it on a inside door that had a regular lockset plus a dead bolt. Didn't try it on a evterior steel door or fiberglas door.

that would mean that it was originated by him and had not been made before so he would not be able to pull a patent. all things he did have been done before. heck the "silencer" he made (that got the noise down to a whopping 150db) has been done and better. his first run only had 1 chamber? every silencer ive seen has at least 3. also the way he attached the shotgun to the m16 was weak and "ghetto" at best. he should have used a mossberg/remington instead (saiga is probably a sponsor). hack job none the less. why, if he is so good, did he think 1 chamber in the silencer would be good enough? he paints gun owners as crazy people endangering others. he says lets go **** up the nieghbors, and starts shooting a "grenade launcher" in the air in the parking lot. this show is all the left needs. ill still watch because its better than alot of others but it doesnt help gun owners. and in case i forgot, UGLY!

I wasn't impressed with the show, it was just boring. If I had an 07 license, I would chop up cheap Saiga shotguns all day and mount them on stuff like I was doing something new......and let me make a silencer and stick it on a $300 shotgun and charge 2K a piece......
The wierd young guy who said firing the cannon was "just orgasmic", wow, that was freakin wierd....... I love guns as much as anyone here but never once would I go that far with describing a gun experience
I think he has some creepy relationship with his daughter, you would almost think it was his wife.......he answers to his daughter and lets her yell at him about money, and then says things like "she's my parental figure" pretty wierd.....and yeah, plus she's not *****, but she's far from hot. I wouldn't turn it down after I had a few drinks in me.....but then again there's not much I turn down
