Default Bank robber hostage taker

I was watching Fox news when they showed a bank robber who took a woman hostage. As he was trying to get away he slipped on the ice, she breaks his grip and runs, he is chasing her from about 4 feet pointing his gun at her and running right past a cop or two before the screen went blank.

I’m not sure what the LEOs are taught but if I was there I think I would have taken the shot right then and there, he may have caught up to her again. Maybe someone did right after the fade to black.

It faded to black because they smoked him right then and there. Snow and ice are good for something.

They shot and killed him.

Robber shot after using hostage as human shield - U.S. news - Crime & courts - msnbc.com

Guess that saves the taxpayers a bunch of money on trials and lawyers.

BTW, I know that area very well. It is always extremely busy with a major intersection/mega-traffic and lotsa folks afoot.

Suspect the LEO's there were not expecting him to exit the building with a hostage at gunpoint.

You will also note some very bad positioning before the shooting. Anyone viewing will likely note exactly what I mean...

Be safe.

Back in the day......officers didn't have to concern themselves with the media to the extent they do today. The officers in this situation had to be aware they were being filmed and that their actions would be played and replayed over and over for millions to watch. And every move they made would be scrutinized and questions asked by "armchair quarterbacks", couldn't they have used a taser, pepper spray, etc. They have an instant to decide to shoot or not, where is the victim, are there bystanders/fellow officers in the line of fire. Thank God it turned out right. My thanks and respect to those officers.

Amen.

Armchair 'quarterbacks' would react very differently if they themselves were being 'blitzed' by a hostage-taker with a firearm. It would be well, IMO, if the entire video was shown over and over again to further deter more 'woud-be' criminals.

Seems the old 'He was turning his life around" and "He had no opportunities as a child" ploys are running themselves out of sympathy. If so, it's about time. It's also about time simple-ordinary-decent people were not lumped into a group with the idiots who use firearms for devious purposes as the Brady suporters etal constantly try doing.

Metro Detroit newspapers are rife with stories of paroled criminals who, within a week or sooner of being paroled, immediately embark upon another criminal spree. Any public airing that would deter these thugs would be positive IMO.

I watched it.

I guess I am wondering what chemically-fueled version of "Oh, Mercy" went through this coward's head immediately before it had to give way to incoming fire.

Ah, well. Live stupid, pay the stupid tax.
