Hi:
Thank you for posting. I guess in those days the "Gun To Have" was a S&W .357mag with 3 1/2" barrel.
When I entered L.E. (1962) the "Gun To Have" was a S&W Model 19 4" Nickeled.

That is SA Charles 'Jerry' Campbell.
I have held the Reg Mag he is wearing in that pic, courtesy of Dave B.
If you want to see the Reg Mag he is wearing, along with his other guns, look here-

Did you have trouble seeing the front sight in bright sunlight due to the glare from the nickle ? I have only owned one nickle plated gun ( S&W Model 36 ) that was given to me by a friend and cousin of my Dad's because her kids didn't want it and were anti gun. Beautiful gun in perfect condition. She was with the Colorado Springs PD and had a much different take on guns than her kids did. Good for me ... bad for them. BTW, she still has some FBI training certificates on her wall from classes she attended.

FBI
My grandfather (died before I was born) was special agent in charge of Cleveland back in the day. My wife requested his file vis freedom of information act...several months later 1000+ pages showed up "moderately" balcked out. But I have a copy of his letter to JEH requesting a position, the offer letter from JEH, all his annual reviews, a warning from JEH when he had become to physically unfit, medical reports when he was injured machine gun training - shooting from a vehicle, etc....it is fantastic. I have pics of him in the office mostly, but one pic of him crouching down shooting a revolver of some kind...
Way cool
