I have bought guns at auctions in Texas a few times. Most of the time there was no fee charged. Just pay the amount of your bid and go on your way. But one auction was selling donated items for a childrens home. All of the money went to the home. They had the local gun shop owner set up a table and you had to pay his $25 fee for each gun you bought. Most complained about the fee but there was no way around it. I believe there were over 100 guns sold that day. They asked the GS owner to donate his fees to the home but he just smiled and kept collecting. I don't think it is Texas law to do a transfer because the auctioneer is representing the owner and is not the seller. The owner of the gun is the seller and the auctioneer is just setting the price. On the norm the buyer is only asked to show that he is a resident of Texas and thats all. As far as looking up the legality of it, I don't know where you would look.
