I (we) could never afford a real Schuco, but I sure wanted one! I remember holding them and feeling their weight and precision when we would go to the big city of Houston shopping for school clothes.

Diecasts can become like collecting Colts or Smiths.

This is a Carousel/Hobby Horse 1/43 metal diecast that's becoming kinda rare, and when one does show up it usually brings some pretty good money north of $100 and climbing.

The really rare piece is the Carousel 1/18th model of Foyt's 1961 winner which has been out of production for a while. Very nice detail, and they're bringing rain if and when they come up for sale now.

Here's my complete set of 1/18 Foyt Indy winners:

And a couple of his old sprinters

It's a fun hobby.

Oh, I'm familiar with his work!

Awesome....just awesome.

If I ever hit the Lotto, he's on my speed dial.

I gotta tell ya that around age 5 I saw the midgets run at Playland Park in Houston.

Changed my life.

I'd never seen anything so beautiful, so exciting, so fast, and so dangerous in my entire life. Well, until I met my first wife.

Your friend does incredible work, and you can bet if I'm ever near his shop I will, indeed, stop by.

doc540 - I love your collection. I got to meet and get A.J.'s autograph as a kid.
As you and G-mac have mentioned, Schuco's were out of reach as a kid................these are a few of my VW's and they all work well

VERY nice!

The one I remember the most was a 1930's or '40's European F1 car, like a Maserati. By far, the finest toy I'd ever seen in my life.

May not have been a Shuco, though because it was larger than 1/43.
