Blue or Black treatment for Stainless?
Stainless is a wonderful way to beat rust and corrosion, but
I really like blued firearms. Is there any way to treat SS without
using some form of paint? I've got a couple or three guns in stainless
that can't be had in blue. Any ideas? TACC1

Consider Black-T. It's a coating that actually binds to the metal, very thin, and very hard. Many premium guns are finished in it. I had a Browning Hi-Power done and the semi matte black finish is smooth and really good looking.

Depends on how much you want to spend and if the guns are worth it. Click on the price PDF

I can not swear to the accuracy but I read once that the early Stainless barrels Winchester used were plated with iron, polished, then blued normally.

Trade them for something you like. IMO you would just be messing up their value.

Ford's website says he has chemical additives that allow him to blue or nickel plate stainless steel. I've never used him, but it's right on his home page.

I had the same problem but worse I have blue guns that I wanted a cylinder and barrel for them that are only made in SS. The good men on this forum came to my rescue. SS can be blued! The best known for this is in Florida and he specializes in it. No special process, pre plating or expense. It's all in the heat and level of bluing salts and he can match most blues. I'll send his website as soon as I get home.

WOW!!
Well, we'll have to see. I've got one in particular, that is only made in stainless. Obviously not an S&W. If it was, I'd just get the blued
version. Since we're not talking S&W, there's no need to worry about loss of value!
Thanks for the replies, now I'll check them all out. If I do this,
I'll have something truly special,...to me. TACC1
