I am about to send off a M627PC to have the front sight replaced as the one on the gun won't budge and is way off center. And I sure don't want to pound on an almost $900.00 gun myself, as a local gunsmith couldn't budge it and dinged the sight. How long does this process take once they send the Fedex return tag and the gun is on its way?

I sent a model 581 back for safety recall. Took less than two weeks if I recall.

I've sent guns back three times and twice it was about ten days and once about 30 days, a more complex problem.

There is no need to send it all the way back to the factory for something this simple. You can use an authorized warranty station. There is one in California - see
Warranty Stations - Smith & Wesson

I sent one to the station in Texas on a Monday, and it came back fixed on Thursday. They even paid the shipping both ways.
