Default Crosman mods

I have a Crosman 2240 for backyard practice and while it is accurate and powerful for what it is and costs, I could always stand to gain something.
I was told a steel breech enhances accuracy. I don't care about the ability to mount a scope.
Don't want to increase the barrel length.
Does anyone have any experience with these pistols or know of a lead or link to more knowledge?
I've surfed some airgun forums and haven't been impressed with anything as of yet. Thanks.

I would think that what you have seen is someone opining that a steel breech might be an improvement, not that such an accessory is actually available. If you are really interested in accuracy better to invest in a higher quality pistol, such as their 2300: 2300S Silhouette Pistol (.177) - Air Pistols - Airguns

A steel breech is readily available and easy to install from what I've seen.
I agree that the gun you showed is nice, but I want mine in .22 and at $70, the 2240 still has a lot of upgrades available for less cost.

Hmmmm, Very interesting. I'm not at home and I don't know the model number of mine but I have a Crosman too. It is .177 pellet pump. It uses the 5-shot clip/magazine and it pretty accurate out to about 40 feet depending on how many pumps you give it.

We have a couple of opossums that like to come by at night and eat the food we put out for our outside cats. and now and then a hungry coon will find his way to our back deck. I don't want to hurt them I just want them to leave and not come back. A shot to the hind end with one pump and they usually don't come around again for a couple or 3 weeks. I use the soft led "hunting" pellets that expand and I have dispatched a number of rats and mice the seem attracted to my yard building and barn.

I have really enjoyed it. Sometimes on a slow rainy day I'll set up targets in the garage.

I bought a 2240 a couple years ago for cheap indoor practice. I did some research before buying, and I didn't choose that model for the mods that can be done to it, but because spare parts are plentiful.

I had never warmed to the idea of a CO2 anything. I'm sold now, though. I get my CO2 in boxes of 40 on Amazon.

It'll hold an inch at 10 yards offhand. That's if I do my part!
