How many of you store ammo in your gun safe?
Just curious. I used to keep quite a bit in mine, along with loaded magazines and speed loaders. I even had a gun or two with ammo in it. Then I decided to remove it all. Knowing how hot house fires get, I was afraid of the temps inside of the safe getting high enough to cook off rounds and damage everything inside in case I actually had a house fire myself. Call me paranoid, but its what I do. I have a separate non-fire proof safe I store all of my ammo in now in my hidden bat cave. How do you guys store your bulk ammo and reloading components?

Not me. The gun safe is for guns.
My ammo is in USGI ammo cans stacked on heavy shelving in the basement.

Nope.....in case of a fire, I don't want it contained..and I don't have the room anyway...also, my ammo has a huge sign on it that reads. "will be used to find whoever breaks into my safe."

Powder, primers, dies and reloaded ammo are stored in re-purposed cigar humidors.
The wooden cabinets are four to six cubic feet in volume and the original humidifying devices have been replaced with dehumidifying devices.
Factory made ammo is stored in airtight ammo cans along with indicating silica gel desiccant packs.

Almost everything is in GI surplus ammo cans in the safe. I do keep a loaded rifle and pistol, as well as a few loaded speed strips and a speedloader or two in the safe and not in any type of container.
Regards,
Dave

most of my ammo is in ammo cans. i've been looking for a medium sized used safe for ammo storage only but haven't found the right one yet.

Just a few loaded magazines and speed loaders in the vault with the guns. All other ammo is stored in GI Ammo cans stacked under my loading bench. Powder and primers is on the shelf just above my loading bench. (My loading bench is about 35 ft. long in a "U" shape wrap-around the one end of my loading room).

I have a separate safe for ammo. The ammo goes in a dry box which goes in the safe.

Ammo goes in metal cans. Some might hand around the bottom of the safe till I get to it. Then it goes with the rest.
Some reloading tools and gear is in cans as well, and powder & primer are in a wooden box.

I actually picked up a decent sized tool chest with a good locking system and use that for my ammo now. I like it, very convenient, fairly secure and with all the drawers I have it laid out for the different calibers as well as different magazines. Works for me, I like the ammo cans, have several or them filled up as well, but it seems like an easy target when they are not secured in some kind of cabinet, closet or something. And yes, I have them stuffed under my work bench... but I'm working on it.

All my surplus ammo and reloading supplies are stored in USGI ammo cans humidity controlled in a separate location from my main safe. I keep (2) loaded magazines with my carry pistol in my quick access safe.

Some in cabinets nearby, most in ammo cans in the cellar. In the safe are a few magazines downloaded by a couple rounds each for my most likely go-to guns.
