Just found out my son, who's in the Navy is retiring in Sept with 20 years of service.
Does this mean I'm old??

Nah. People tell me, I'm 65, you're only as old as you feel. Sometimes that makes me well over 100 . . .

No. My son recently retired from the Monroe County (FL) Sheriff's Department, and it doesn't mean that I'm old. Picking up my three-year-old granddaughter in a "parachute" and carrying her around and swinging her around and then finding a crick in my back that has lasted several days means that I'm old.

Thank you!
Just wanted to thank you and your son for your service.
Oh, and sorry, but when you celebrate your childs retirement, then yes, you are old.

Yeah, you are old...as am I.
But hey, as my daughter points out to me when I complain about getting old to her, she says..."hey, look at it this way, a hundred years ago...you would be dead!"

You're not there with "the hills" and dirt, but you're headed that way. Nothing wrong with growing old, it sure beats the alternative.

Kraig,
I have a son in the Marines that is nearing retirement too. I think that the clean air and pure living in Wyoming may help us retain our youth for a couple more years.
Or is it pure air and clean livin'? I forget.

If it means that you are old, I am right behind you. My son has three years and he can retire from the Navy. Submarine service.

I think it was Satchell Paige who said:
"How old do you think you'd be if you didn;t know how old you was?"
After church I sometimes chase my friends' daughters around the playground. They ask me (61) for a "Time Out".
Now you might be getting old when you visit a military base and the senior NCOs look young to you.

I'm 52 and I'm not old. I still have dreams for the future. When you replace dreams for the future with regrets about the past, then you're old!
Heck, my Mom's 72, and she's not old, either!

I like that quote! I'd be 20! Well, 20, but smart enough to know not to do some of the stuff I did back then!

My son is a commercial pilot. The other day I asked him how many hours he had now. 6100, he says.
I remember when he soloed, for Pete's sake.
Any day now he'll buy me lunch.
