Default Tyler "T" Grip Adapters

I ordered several grip adapters from Tyler in Oklahoma City, Ok, in December of last year. They cashed my check immediately. I have never received anything back from them, not even an explanation. You cannot contact them by phone or e-mail, and they do not respond to letters. I filed a complaint with the Oklahoma City Attorney General's Office. You would think they would be concerned about criminal activity in their own capital city. They blew me off, and referred my complaint to the U. S. Postal Inspector, which is nothing more than a dumping ground for complaints. Maybe, if they get over a thousand or so, they might look into it. Your Government at Work. Be forewarned, these people are crooks, and nobody is going to help you get your money back.

The Postal Inspectors may help. I had problems with a famous custom knifemaker in the 1960's. (NOT Randall.) A letter to the Inspectors got a reply from this guy, and my knife turned up soon after.

Prior to that, he'd (maker) ignored me.

But USPS has changed a lot, so who knows?

There have been so many complaints about Tyler on the Net lately, that a person would have to be an idiot or a supreme optimist to order from them.

I live in OKC and will ask around on the Oklahoma Shooters Association forum, they are a pretty well informed bunch. Melvin Tylers old office/store was on Britton Road for many years, and it looked like a little shack that would fall down any minute, but I never heard of any customer complaints. I think the kids took over the business and ran it into the ground.

Sad, but I've seen that happen so many times.

I think it has to do with work ethic and growing up with a sense of entitlement.

When something is just handed to you, and you don't have to work for it to get it, it's easy to not appreciate it and let it go to ****.

I don't know anything about Tyler, but it wouldn't surprise me.

This is not the first time I've heard this. Maybe somebody local can tell us what is going on. I ordered some grips and trigger shoes from them several years ago without any problems except that the brass looking grips lose their coating and are blued underneath, which is not altogether a bad thing. I would like to get a few more but I wouldn't do it now. Maybe somebody could buy them out. I'm sure the demand for them is down but something like that would be a good way to enhance a retirement for someone looking for something to do.

I've got maybe 6-7 of the things left. I found one in the front yard a couple weeks ago. I must have dropped it out of a pocket last winter going to/from a GS. The black finish is pretty rough but I'll just buff off the anodizing and have a spare. I can't believe the renewed interest in the things I've used them for 45 years. It looks like the Tyler "kids" are allergic to money or something else is afoot. Maybe it's now a lost art or some major manufacturing component done broke. Farmer17's description makes it sound more like a "cottage industry" than what I thought. If they are committing fraud I gotta think someone will be behind the eight ball pretty soon.

I just had to try for myself. I called Tyler's 800 number and I got an answering machine. "I'm sorry, we're not available for your call, please call again". THAT IS WHAT I GOT.......................CookE

Latest update: Tyler has an "F" rating with the local BBB, and Tyler will not try to settle any complaints through the their local BBB. Sorry, folks, regardless of what you heard, they run a bogus business, since the old man got out of it. Shame, he had a good reputation.

I guess I got what I deserved. I sent my money against my better judgement and the warnings here on the forum. Nobody to blame but myself. End of story.

I just had an experience with them myself. I had heard that they were back in business and shipping promptly. I placed an order for two grips in late January and saw that my check had been cashed several days later. After about a month and not hearing anything or getting the goods, I sent them an email. I got no response. I then tried to call the number on the website and got a message "the mailbox is full". I called several additional times and once got a voicemail box and left a message that I was getting increasingly concerned that they had taken my money and run. This past week, I considered contacting the Attorney General's office in Oklahoma about them. On Thursday, I opened my mailbox and there was a padded package from Tyler Manufacturing with my two grip adapters. I just got finished installing them on my Model 36 and Model 65. They sure look good! Someone needs to tell them about Customer Service however.

I spoke with "JR" at Tyler today. He said they are up and running and trying to create some inventory to keep ahead of orders. I printed the order form off his website and mailed it to him with a check. Also, his website was recently updated 4-8-13. I'll keep ya'll posted as to my success.

You want grip adapters in a FEW DAYS,

order from a supporter HERE,

BKGRIPS.

They have 2 clips instead of Tyler's one, for more stability.

You want Tyler-T's, it's a CRAPSHOOT of IF and WHEN, Maybe.

Yep, I got ripped off as well. Thanks for reminding me of the first and last time I ever got screwed; but I figure kharma will come his way in short order. That outfit already has had a run in with the state AG.

When small business Owners/Creators pass on, the family has a hard time keeping

the passion and work ethic going, they have other passions of their own.

Many have PROMISES AND PROMISES but they fail in their actions let alone customer service and satisfaction.
