Default If You Have A Cell Phone

I lost my phone on Saturday and soon realized I had no idea as to how to call folks. I do not know the numbers, they are in the contacts section. I sent out email and many folks sent me the numbers.

I recommend that you backup your contacts or write the numbers down somewhere.

I found the phone this morning in the basement. I had tried calling it, but it was not getting a signal and did not ring. I got a new one yesterday, which is now the wifes. The owner's manual for the new phone was horrible. It assumed you already knew everything about the phone.

One of the best features about the Android OS phones (mine is the Verizon Droid X) is that you create or use your existing Google account and it saves everything to that account. I started out with an Eris and went to the X and all I did was link the X to my existing account. Poof, it instantly became my phone with all my contacts and saved features. All I had to do was download the few apps I use to the new phone. I assume most of the smart phones are like this but I have been a Google junky for enough years at this point that I’m one of these people that use Google as a noun and a verb. Need to look something up? GOOGLE IT!!!

EDIT:I forgot to mention that the Droid X takes better pictures than my digital camera does. Sad how fast technology replaces itself. It really is borderline cannibalism how fast new technology gobbles up old tech and replaces it with something better…

Almost all celphones these days can connect to a computer to save and/or transfer contact info. It is a good idea to update the puter file once a month.

I think most newer phones can save your contacts to the SIM card or an SD card also. Do that once in awhile.

Holy ringtone Batman, My cell phone still has a dial on the front...I must be really getting old because not only do I not have any use for all the wiz bang 4G techno stuff, I'm too stupid to figure out how to use it...If I see an electronic device that has an owners manual/user guide more than an inch thick written in techno babble I know to stay away from it......I do find it somewhat sad that people in church or movies cant go more than a few minutes without playing with their phone...I almost ran over a guy that walked right out in front of my truck in a parking lot while looking at his i-phone, he never looked up and had no clue how close he came to being as flat as the phone in his hand!!!...

The 8G should be out in June. It automatically backs up every 24 hours and sends it via e mail to your computer.

It also sends you a handwritten letter of all your all contacts through the post office if you mention you are a forum member.

Poke fun all you want. I get to surf this forum while I'm sitting in the waiting area while she gets her hair done. And I score points for being good by going with her. Win win for me.
