Lookin for ideas for kiddies to buy me some new muffs for Father's Day. Amplify people talking but good when the shooting starts. Don't want to break the bank.

I have some Caldwells that do a pretty good job.

Winchester from Walmart - about $16 and work great.

...in shooting muffs is the pair which reduces noise the best. In this case more $$$ mean more protection.

I have two pairs which are excellent, but they aren't cheap.

The best I've found (and now use exclusively), is the Magnum Pro Ears Gold. There are none better.

Second is the pair made by Peltor, the Tactical Pro.

Neither of these are cheap, but they work the best of any out there.

I also wear custom-molded plugs at the same time.

I have been happy with the browning ear muffs, comfortable and at around 30 bucks they won't break the bank. I am thinking the nrr is around 27 on them but I could be mistaken on that.

I use Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic Earmuffs along with foam plugs. For me it's a perfect combination. The earmuffs are low profile which helps when shooting rifles. The amplification allows me to easily hear people talking while providing even more protection than foam plugs alone. Quite a few folks at the rifle club use them. IMO, the earmuffs alone are not enough protection-- NRR 22.

Another one here for double protection, I use the foam earplugs then a pair of electronic ones I bought at Harbor Freight. The only complaint I have with the electronic ones is that they only have one mic so you can't tell what direction someone is talking to you from, but for the price I'll live with that.
