Anyone following the 625-5 bidding?
Anyone following the 625-5 Classic bidding on GB? Its over$ 1470.00 right now with 4 hours to go. Holy cow!!! I know these are rare but is it prudent to pay that much?

625 45 colt
Hey Scout...yes I have been watching it. Was hoping that you would get it. I am really surprised it went that high. Unbelievable....some people have more money than sense! I believe there were 1500 of them made. You'll find one eventually and probably at a better price. Good luck to you!

Yeah, I really had my hopes up for getting that one. I just can't justify paying that kind of price. I would have put it to good use. I hope the person that gets it doesn't make a safe queen out of it.

Jeez, it's up to $1575 with still an hour to go. A real shame. I can't imagine that it will get proper use after laying out that kind of money. More then likely its headed for the safe. Would have made a he'll of a woods gun.

More people want them than can have them, that's for sure. I sold a ANIB (unfired post-factory) one here in January for over $1,000 and it went really fast. I was feeling like I had overpriced it but had enough other offers to buy it, I probably could have squeezed a few more bucks out on GB, had I been so inclined. The new owner has doubtlessly shot it by now (I had bought it new in 1993!) so it went to a good home.
Something is worth whatever someone else will pay for it and I am continually amazed at the prices that what I consider to be recently-made guns (post-1980) go for. I think I am stuck in a time warp as to value, as I doubt I would pay some of the prices that I have sold guns for recently!
If you adjust today's dollars for inflation since the guns were made, sometimes the current prices are more understandable.
That may well be the best shooting .45 Colt revolver that S&W ever made, perhaps that anyone has made.

When I see a gun priced like this, I have to remind myself I just paid nearly $200 to fill the fuel tank on my pickup truck.

I was and am certainly willing to pay a top price for one. However once the price soared past $1400 to 1500 it became more of who had the money to throw around then those who had a use for the piece. I don’t begrudge those individuals just have a hard time understanding bragging rights.
