NFL = National Felons League
I'll watch so-called 'motorsports' , NASCAR and NHRA drag racing. The money and commercialism of most stick & ball sports ruins it. I don't think I've ever spent a dollar on sports team clothing or trinkets. I know people who live and breathe sports on TV and radio , and talk or argue games and results every waking minute. I just don't get it.

I used to like sports when I was a kid, but now I think most of the yearly outcomes are fixed. I get tired of hearing feel good stories every five minutes. It beats reality TV, you have to admit. I care much less about who a couple of washed up stars think sings better than if the Braves won last night.

I went to Ohio State and I can honestly say that I have never been to one of their football games.
I hear people talking sports and I try to figure what language they are speaking

I don't need to get along with anybody THAT badly.
We can just agree not to talk to each other... probably tacitly without actually talking about it.

Pro sports are bad enough, but living in Kentucky & being constantly bombarded with a deluge of UK basketball is quite annoying. Around March every year, if half the world blew up, the lead news story here would be "Where will the Cats play in the NCAA tourney". Ten minutes into the news, they might tell about the world blowing up, before the "Sports" portion of the newscast! I just don't get it, I suppose.

I'm not a sports fanatic, but I will watch football (Saints and Lions) and I enjoy it. I don't feel the need to bash pro sports, or belittle those who follow and appreciate it.
Its all just entertainment. Some of the same folks who will run down a successful pro athlete will have a stroke if you say something bad about John Wayne, who never wore a uniform unless he was paid handsomely to do so. Throw a ball, pretend to shoot Nazis - at least in sports you don't get twenty takes to get it right.

I see Dallas has declared LeBron James day. They are giving the whole city the last 12 minutes off.

For the life of me , I'll never understand watching GOLF on TV!
Golf courses are a waste of a perfectly good sporting clays or long rifle range.
My Dad , who was a golfer , used to 'shush' everyone in the room when someone was putting!

When I was 14 I decided a golf course was a great place to ride a dirt bike. Actually it was kinda fun but I wouldn't do it again

I never really got into sports, I find it boring on TV. I dont mind going to a game here and there when I get tickets for free. Its fun to be in the stadium, have a beer with friends. I guess I follow baseball and football local teams to at least talk about it, like if they are doing good or poorly. I guess I like to see the local team win.
I dont get how folks live and die for "their" team. They say "we" won, really "we", did you buy the team or do you play for them?
I can see some hometown pride in wanting the local team or place you grew up wining, but some folks worship teams from place they haven't been to?
I have a friend that is in fantasy leagues, all you worry about is the player, not the real teams they are on. You have to know every stat about the players. Seems like a colossal waste of time to me...
I dont buy $200 shirts with a logo on them. I dont decorate my home with team colors, sorry no Yankee pinstripe paint job on my house, or even my car
Should we talk about the waste of money sports collectables are...
Each to their own, I dont really care about it. Some folks would say going on a gun forum is a waste of time...

I did that once too...with a few of my friends...around 1972.
I was on a Suzuki 50cc, my friend Eddie had a Rupp Scrambler mini-bike and Dan had a Yamaha Mini-Enduro.
We made it out alive...barely.

I did it in 76 on a Hodaka 125. They never found out it was me but I felt really bad about it

I still wont admit any thing that might have happened to or on the local golf course.I never played golf on one. I don't care how long ago it was I'll deny it till the end.

If it doesn't have four wheels, a good suspension, and even better engine, I'm not interested. I never knew there was another sport other than racing. Amend that, I think some of those dirt bike desert racers have a great time as well. For me, hot rods, classic CARS, not trucks, and drag racing is where it's at, ever since my Dad took me to a go kart race on dirt back in the Seventies when I was just a kid. I don't have anything against sports, either pro or collegiate, but I get tired of everyone I come into contact with during college ball season more or less assuming I'm a HUGE fan just like they are. Then they look at me funny when I politely say it's just not my big interest.

For me, barely any interest at all. I like to see the Mariners, but only if I'm there, I don't care enough to watch them on TV. I only like football as background noise on Thanksgiving and Christmas, because it reminds me of when I was a kid. I record the Superbowl sometimes, but only to fast forward through the game and watch the commercials. I usually don't know who's playing until the day of. I like to watch old boxing matches on ESPN classic, I never get tired of watching Ali beat Foreman! I hate (yes, hate) any kind of car racing. I can tolerate golf, slightly longer when I'm playing rather than watching. By the 5th or 6th hole, I'm usually wondering if we're almost done.

I used to be interested in professional sports. Then one day I hit puberty and discovered girls might be more interesting than I previously thought. After that watching grown men play kids games did not have the same appeal.

NASCAR is NOT a sport. The drivers are skilled, however, but it was far more interesting when they actually raced STOCK cars...even convertibles for those who don't remember.
I cannot abide the NBA. Despise everthing about it.
Everything Dook related puts a bad taste in my mouth though I will watch any college sport provided the program doesn't cheat. That leaves out Ohio State, Southern Cal, Kentucky, Clemson, Northwestern, and a host of others.
Love college lacrosse...particularly women's lax.
Have a minor position in a horse racing stable. Still not sure if it's truly a sport as the horse does 99.9% of the work.
Know many professional athletes, personally. All of them are good people. One is in the major leagues right now; doesn't make close to a million bucks/year but is quite well-compensated by any measure. Do not agree with the thought process of most professional athletes that they shouldn't have to work once their playing career ends.
Finished third in my club's golf championship this weekend. Actually don't like the game itself...NOT addicted...but like any sport in which you can smoke cigars and drink beer whilst playing.
Be safe.

I never feel this is not good news.....
To me this means summer is coming to an end
However I always look forward to pitchers and catchers getting called up in February, around the same times as Daytona. This means spring is around the corner.

I used to watch pro-football and some pro-hockey, never was too into baseball and basketball. I was into Nascar some but not too much, and drag racing. Now its all about the money, and I still catch drag racing from time to time, but its not the same. The only sports I will watch on TV now involves somebody in a blind, treestand or just good old hunting on the ground. It would be nice to see one pro-athlete stick with one team for more than a season or two before someone tosses more money at him and he jumps ship.
When I was watching them, you knew Phil Simms played for the Giants, Jerry Rice played for the 49ers, etc. Now, its all about the $$.

I'd rather eat a slug sandwich than watch or discuss sports. Give me a firearm and ammunition and I'll create my own "sport". The "sports" gene is absent from my DNA.

I have no intrest in competitive sports. If I had been blessed with a athletic body and ambition I would have tried it for the outrageous money though. There are things like rideing a ATV, that I like to do but I never felt I had to be the best at anything that involved putting other people down beneath me to feel good about myself. Isnt that the real reason for it?

I played basketball in school. I'll go see a live, local college team play. I was interested enough in the Thunder during the playoffs that I watched, cumulatively, almost an entire game. I also watch the OU/OSU game every Thanksgiving weekend. Beyond that, though, I have little interest in watching sports.
I have a friend who recently lamented that there would likely be no college football next New Year's Day because it's a Sunday and the pros would be playing. I replied that it was six + months away, and why was he worrying about that now? He said that basketball and hockey were over, so there was nothing left to do but think about football. That, to me, is a sad excuse for a life.

I am not a golf fan, but while switching thru the channels, I got interested in the U.S. Open. It was not the "Tiger" show (he was not even there). A young guy named Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland is running away with it. This guy is as skilled as you could ever imagine. He is making a difficult game on a difficult course look easy. I hope he continues to play well and win.
Sports allows us to see this kind of thing every week. How could this not interest you??

I don't play golf and very rarely watch it, but that performance by a 22 yo was incredible. Lowest 72 hole score ever in US Open history.
And the way he paid tribute to his dad on Fathers Day made it much the better.

Because there are three types of blades: dual wield, one-handed blade, and two-handed sword. Or did you mean sabre, epee and foil?

I've been an elemetary principal, high school principal a highschool athletic director and a band director.
After having to go to mindless football games, I could care less if anyone ever played football.
As an elementary principal I had to go to grade school basketball games in "Possum Junction, USA" and that drove me insane.
As an athletic director I had to arrange high school football schedules and officials. I had to be at every damn game, sometimes two and three times a week.
I find most high school sports a real waste of time and money. No, I don't think they necessarily build character. I think sports in public schools is something that could be eliminated and I, for one, wouldn't miss it.
Pro sports? Pure boredom to me.
Individual sports, golf, tennis, etc. I think have merit.

I'm the opposite. I couldn't care less about football.
