Default Leupold scopes

What would be a good price to pay for a Leupold Vari-XII riflescope?
4-12X with 40mm adjustable objective, barely a noticeable ring mark on the rear of the tube. Glass excellent and scratch free. Tube excellent, too.
Price asked is $325.00. This is the older model that was made before the newer VX II. Thanks!

I think that's a bit high. What's a new VX II cost? I'd pay no more than 50% of that price and likely a lot less.

I've seen Vari X III 4.5-14 go for $325. I'd go no more than $250.

Thank you for the comments. I thought it was a bit high, but I haven't bought a scope in awhile, either. I may pass on it or try to haggle them
down which is hard to do in this place.

I stay away from Vari X-IIs. Some of the early ones had very limited range of adjustment and often required "shimming" to get them sighted in. I know, I had one.

That does not apply to the newer VX-IIs.

Academy has this Nikon for $85. Academy - Nikon ProStaff™ 3 - 9 x 40 Rifle Scope
I'm thinking of picking another up since it's about half price.

I'd say no more than about $200-225. I paid $199 for the Vari XII on my FN mauser a few years back.
