Default Portable Kitchen grill....anyone?

Looking at purchasing a new charcoal grill and this caught my eye.

The PK grill, for short, is cast aluminum which should outlast me. Even when uncovered....no rust.

They look like something from the 1950's, which is when they were first introduced...very retro, which I kinda dig.

Anyone have personal experience with these?

Thanks.

The reviews are all very positive on it. My Dad had one (if not one, almost the same) and it sat outside for as long as I can remember , 20 + years.

Like most grills, the body will surely hold up, it's the grates that go over time.

Is it worth almost $300 VS a Weber Kettle?? Hard to say. I think the design is "cool"

I can get it shipped for 270.00.

Yes, a bit more than the kettles, but they'll last MUCH longer even uncovered.

The aluminum is very thick, which is suppose to be the key in grilling on these. Takes less charcoal than the Kettle Weber....but you have to scoop out the used stuff with cup, shovel, etc.

I was talking to my wife's aunt a while back and had never snapped to the fact that her father was the inventor of this grill. The last one I used was over 40 years old and was sitting on a pile of rocks at the deer camp-legs were long gone but the body was in great shape. The only problem with these is worrying about somebody stealing it.

My folks bought one back in the late sixtys, I still had it up until I gave it to one my kids. I had to replace the grates once or twice, thats it.
There's one at the hardware store in town for a couple hundred.
PKs are good to go
