Red face Sons of Guns

I just discovered the TV show Sons of Guns on the Discovery Channel. Recorded about a dozen back issues and have been watching them, very interesting show if you like guns. The new season starts in a couple of weeks.

I like the gun aspect of the show but find the shop owner and his daughter to be annoying.

Question

I personally find it unwatchable. Why do all these so-called 'reality shows' focus on disfunctional people who need to argue and yell at each other all the time.
And from what I've seen , most of their 'creations' are not transferable to everyday citizens. Many are 'destructive devices' , and no 'new' class III firearms can be added to the NFA full-auto pool.

I agree with all of this, except the 'unwatchable' part. If you want 'unwatchable', check out Nancy Grace, I tremble at the thought of having to view that woman! At least with Sons Of Guns, the subject matter is guns...

I know guns are involved but that show bores me...and most of what they build doesn't seem so special...check out the 1911 on their website...eh...

I like all the pawn and picker shows...even Storage Wars is more fun than Sons of Guns...

I agree. Pawn Stars is very interesting , often educational , and the cast seem to get along like real people.

Hardcore Pawn makes me glad I live nowhere near Detroit!

The Sons of Guns folks must live somewhere near Slidell, La. as I've seen some of them at the Slidell gun show.

They need to do away with that openning warning. Best way to get me to do something stupid is to tell me;

DONT TRY THIS AT HOME.

That warning should be clearer....a lot of rednecks will just assume you can do it at someone else's home...

If those guys are gunsmiths, I'm Wild Bill Hickok. Accessorizing flavor-of-the-week bandwagon yahoos maybe, but I've seen no exemplary metalworking nor woodworking skills exhibited.

They just don't do anything I'm interested in. Now if they did a reality show about what went on at The Turnbull Manufacturing Company I bet I would watch.

I watched it last night for the first time. They took an Auto Ordnance semi auto Thompson, converted it to full auto, gave it the "Tacti-cool" treatment and gave it back to the Sheriff from whence it came. I'll watch one more time just in case the episode was a singular ****. Joe

Makes people think anyone can walk in and buy a flamethrower etc.Very little mention of ATF regs, paperwork approval etc.The show where they mounted 2 M16's on a patrol boat for the navy was the one that took the cake. Gun hacks at their best.

(Actually you can buy a flamethrower and its not BATF regulated.)

Stuff like this is pure entertainment, nothing more in my opinion.

I don't find it especially entertaining, so I seldom watch it. It would be nice if I could say it was informative, but that isn't in the nature of entertainment.

I watched the show a couple times. I didn't like the first episode I saw so I gave it a chance on another one. I would have thought the show was cool 25yrs ago when I was a teenager.

It's a lot like the car restoration show and the show about restoring antiques. The boss promises the job in an impossible time and then tells his help to do it. He shows up to make them redo some part of the job, and then leaves. When it's time to deliver the goods, He's there to take the credit and the money. You rarely hear the help get any credit for their work.

I'm gonna watch it tonight...should be exciting. It's a special one hour episode where they will be putting a rare black tyler t-grip on a blued j-frame revolver.

You said it Dave! That particular episode and the one with the Thompson "hack job" turned my stomach!
The fact that this Navy officer couldn't just requistion a twin M249 or better yet a twin M240B for his boat was ludicrious!
And I hear there latest creation is a triple M16! Three M16s as one, complete with Beta mags!
I'd rather be watching the A-Team! Dale

Not having seen this episode, but I bet he's going to have some explaining to do when it comes time to change command.
