Default Welcome a New Shooter

My wife has been bugging me to take her shooting, so last month I started her with a 22 revolver. Did some safety training and dry firing at home with snap caps, then took her to the range two times with the 22.

As I expected she did very well, picking up quickly on the basics of sight picture, trigger control, and follow through.

So the third trip to the range I felt she was ready for a larger bore center fire, and to learn the differences between a revolver and semi-auto. So out came the 3913.

I could tell she was a bit nervous during the training/familiarity with the semi-auto, so I fired the gun a few rounds so she could "see it in action". I then had her load just one round in the magazine and fire the gun, then two, and then three to get the "feel". After that, and her realizing the noise and recoil was not bad, I set up her first real target with the 3913. The distance was short to build her confidence. The result is shown below with two magazines from a two handed stand at 30 feet.

I've emphasized to her to make every shot count, that practice does not make perfect, only perfect practice makes perfect.

So, I present a new shooter to the firearm community. My woman, my woman, my wife

Excellent!

What User name will she be posting under?

And now what are you going to shoot since she obviously has a connection with the 3913?

Ooopps...sorry guys.

I guess I implied she was joining the forum. What I meant was we have a new shooter in the world of gundom, and a new S&W aficionado

Always pleased to see a woman learn how to shoot a firearm responsibly, and know how to use it should the need arise. We need more women like your wife, frankly.

Your expenses have just begun. You wil buy her: new gun, ammo, ear protection, gun box, another gun, ......... , etc. The good news is you won't need permission and you have a life long shooting partner.

As long as you are cleaning your guns, will you clean mine too, Honey?

I love these stories; more shooters/serious gunowners are what we need. Not just family members, but friends, neighbors, coworkers, everyone.

Just be prepared to get outshot in the near future. It never fails.

Congrats on a lovely lady and a new shooter!

She might enjoy the forums that relate to her interests, or interests to come in the case of weapons.
