Unless you took the picture first hand I've got to doubt it.

It's not really climbing, it's standing on his tail.

Looks to me like there is an odd shadow just above his snout, just above each "arm" there is a parallel line which doesn't correspond with the fence grid, like a gator picture was pasted on to a fence, but then I am usually skeptical of a lot of things that show up on the net.

Default Sure they can climb

Howdy,
Here is one climbing the cabinet so he can turn his favorite Elton John song up........ Crocodile Rock!

There is nothing that a real one can do that would surprise me. They are more agile than you think.
Thanks
Mike

I dunno --- a young AZ Game & Fish intern told me she'd found a bear inside the ostensibly predator-proof Walnut Canyon Exclosure, an eight foot high chain-link perimeter around a huge area used for research on the affects of eliminating predation. If a bear could succeed, I can believe that a 'gator might try... I'd have paid money to see either attempt....

FWIW, one of the local pet shops here had a small gator a long long time ago in a little fenced in enclosure inside....... he was about 5' and climbed out all the time. i dont see how this is hard to believe at all but hey when you have seen it with your own eyes guess it makes it a little easier.

Now that I read this... Where is the rest of his tail??? I don't see where it is bending, I see no flattened grass around where he must have started to climb up, and just what is that halo above his nose???

Answer: Fun with Photoshop yet again... (my guess at least)

Yikes. I agree with "The Poster formerly known as OCD1" on this one. But I didn't even make it thirty seconds.

I believe that chain link, without being top-strung, would be laying down one way or the other with the weight of that critter on it.

Exactly what I was about to say - plus it appears there is two layers of link to his right. Probably taken while on the ground.
