$478. For my scrap brass! 5 buckets
I'm trying to clear out my gun room a little at a time.
I took five 5 gallon buckets of used brass to the scrap metal yard today and had 210 Lbs @ $2.29 a pound.
I still have 2000 virgin 45acp cases I'm going to load for the girls and also saved some 38 special and 45-70 to load.
I was pleasently surprised at the $2.29 and what I was able to net.

That's great news. I just wonder, could you have not gotten a better price from reloaders? Seems a shame to see that melted down.

I have an issue with my dad about how many times has his brass been reloaded. Most has been shot more than once and maybe more.
I'm sure crofoot knows whats scrap and whats not.Dad maybe not.
I haven't been out to the reservation in a while and it makes me wonder how much brass is still out there.Used to be it was more plentiful than gravel in some places.

Actually it was a shame to sell as scrap.
I sinned to avoid the problems of many different calibers and the high price of shipping. Can you imagine trying to count and sell 100 of this and 500 of that or the cost of shipping 50 Lbs of brass?
When cleaning out your gun room and paring down your collection for your soon to be widow some compromises must be made.
I had one local person interested until he learned the scrap price.
It was quick and easy. Which was a relief compared to all the communications and shipping problems of selling it as reloadable brass.

I have paid about that for mixed caliber brass in USPS flat rate boxes. I had fun sorting it and was very happy with what I got. It was double bagged in the flat rate medium box. I would have bought two of them or a large box whatever it was but at the time I was a little cash shy.

The cost would be exactly $10.95 in a USPS Medium Flat Rate Box
13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8"
You can ship anything that fits in this box that weighs less than 70 pounds, even 70 pounds of bullets. There are larger & smaller sizes available.
BTW Midway is asking $67.99 for a box of 100 new 45-70 Remington brass cases, so your used ones may have been worth more than you realized.

You know the USPS is loving those Flat Rate boxes being used for bullets!
We just got two very heavy boxes from Mo. Bullet Co. My buddy had a postcard in his box to come down to the post office to pick them up. They claimed that they were too heavy to deliver...
