I made two trips to drive on 66, this year and last. Wish I had done it 30 years ago.

It's not too late
It’s not too late to re-live the nostalgia of Route 66 and visit Radiator Springs (aka Peach Springs). Each year in late-May/early-June the Route 66 Association of Arizona sponsors a Fun Run that winds along the old Route 66 from Seligman thru Kingman and onto the finish line in Topock . . . just befoe crossing the state line into Needles, California.
Here is their web site: Route 66 Association of Arizona
We took the Run in 2007 and loved it. Climax Springs and Oatman were our favorite stops . . . click on those tabs on the home page above. Be sure to take the old-old Route 66 road out of Oatman for the full flavor of the Mother Road.
And for those of you old enough to remember “Highway Patrol”, we traveled in our Broderick Crawford Special . . . a ’54 Oldsmobile California Highway Patrol car . . . it don’t get any funner!
Enjoy,
Russ

That is in my list of things to do when I can afford the money and time off. I really want to do the full on Route 66 road trip.

"Cars" is my favorite cartoon movie but I haven't seen the new one yet... Cruising on route 66 is on my bucket list but Wifeys health won't allow it... I remember watching "Highway Patrol" back in the 50's but by then he must have traded his 54 Olds for a 55 or 56 Buick... Later, Dave

I haven't seen Cars, I usually only watch movies with gratuitous nudity. I did ride Route 66 by motorcycle 6 years ago, the best vacation I ever had.

Watched Cars 2 with my grandsons on Saturday, my first experience with a new 3D movie. It's not as good as the original Cars, but still better than most of the stuff currently out there. This one is set in Japan and Europe, with lots of cute little references for fans of foreign iron and/or Speed TV.

Dave, you are correct. Broderick traded in his 54 Olds for a 55 Buick in the second season . . . however, there was a trailer at the end of all 158 episodes where he drives away into the sunset in his merry Olds.

..as only James Taylor could sing......I swear I would pay to hear him sing the ingredients in a can of soup.
This clip brings back memories of what we had 40 years ago, and what we are missing today. Sad state of affairs.

If you are going to drive 66, you should also try the Lincoln Highway. Both are impressive. I have not gotten all of 66 but I have done big chunks of it.

old route 66
In about 30 minutes I'm getting on my Springer Classic-riding east on 66 thru Waynesville, Missouri to Missouri Avenue then on to Fort Leonard Wood. Still some big sections of 66 around here.
