High for anything but low cost high volume stuff. It's a volume and overhead thing.

They are high, but I have purchased a couple nice SW revolvers from them at what I thought reasonable prices - you have to keep checking and every so often you find something. You can make an offer and if the gun has been there a while, they may accept it - on the other side of the coin, I have heard that they will offer you more for you used gun than most LGS's but I never sell anything (), so I don't know that for a fact

Default Cabelas

recently sold them a revolver, their offer was fair.
on another gun, they were way low.
sometimes good prices on used shotguns.
for new ...check out LowPriceGuns.com, have not seen lower prices anywhere.

I will never forget just how right I purchased my Performance Center 44 magnum S&W. I dont think they knew what they had, and its the real deal, I checked with S&W before I purchased it. I am forever grateful. All around excellent transaction, 26

I've got a new Cabelas built about 3 yrs ago about a mile from my house. I stop there to peruse the guns about twice a week. As a guy that's fairly knowledgeable in used gun prices, I must say Cabelas is positively bizarre.

I think if you were shopping for Hammers and you found a big Tool Store that had a room in the back called "Hammer Library", their Hammer prices would be high also.

Make 'em an offer. I did on a revolver and they came down. Still didn't buy it, but sometimes they will deal. Usually depends on the store, how long they've had it, and if they are sick of looking at it.

There are very few things at Cabela's that are not cheaper elsewhere. The only advantage they have is a lot of stuff, IME.

Yes, I also think their prices are high. And, not just on guns. About 6 mo ago I was in the KC store, and after chocking on a few of the Library prices, and hoping a few of my guns would bring close to that, I went looking for some pellets for my match air pistol. They had RWS Meisterkuglen that I was looking for, but $12.99 for a tin of 250. I passed and bought two tins of 500 for $$6.00 each from Midway. I can understand a little difference in a retail store, but not over 4X more.

With Cabela's you just need to take your time and shop. Some of their prices are ridiculous. And some of their prices are extremely low. We bought a Kimber Long Master Classic in .223 for $800 not too long ago. That was a real good deal. And they closed out a couple of real nice #1's for a ridiculous price. So my suggestion with Cabela's is to check their price every day. Since they are in flux. Tom.

Their prices are definitely high. The thing that just boggles my mind is that for guns currently in production, they will price a used one at the same price or higher as a new one in the case 30 ft away! For example, they'll have a used Beretta 92FS for $599 when the new one is only $579.

However, they do deal on the prices. I've been told confidentially by some employees that it all depends on how long they've had it. The longer they have it, the more they will drop the price. They also seem more willing to deal on long guns than handguns too, from my experience.

Cabelas is indeed pricey for some things but great deals to be had as well... Just picked up some ammo on Sat. For the lowest prices I have seen in a long time. 9mm for $9.99 and .380 ACP for $13.99. (Czech - S&Bellot- good practice ammo)

I have bought a few guns there and the prices were ok, and on others i didn't bother to even ask. We hadn't been up there since last winter and my girls like the aquarium and I enjoy walking around. At one point they must have had 30 Krag Jorgensen rifles in the Library.

Cabela's recently opened a store in Oregon, and had a rather extensive choice of S&W revolvers of various generations the several times I visited.

Prices seemed to be towards the higher side on most, but then again they actually had stuff not generally on hand for sale NOW in the typical outlets. Wasn't buying, just window shopping....it was nice to see their display.

Where I live, you could wait decades to purchase your dream gun at SCSW prices. I use a combination of Cabela's card points and loyalty discounts to bring the prices within reason. That said, have you looked at the asking prices on the forum? My local Cabela's will deal on things that linger, and they will ship in a gun from another store for inspection if I am serious. I have made many good purchases from Cabela's.

For the most part I find Cabela's to be high priced and difficult to deal with but, every once in a while there's a deal to be had. I recently came across an older FN in 40 S&W at the Omaha store they only wanted $250.00 for. Gun was still in the box and looked almost new. Cabela's is worth watching because you just never know with them. The help doesn't seem particularly knowledgeable so anything could happen.
