s&w revolver question?
dear s&w forum, i have a s&w revolver question. if a person already owns a s&w model 10 do they need to own a s&w model 64? since both revolvers almost indentical aside from the model number and the finish. sincerely and respectfully

You should not purchase a model 64 revolver. Do the best you can to stay with blued revolvers. Attempt to purchase all the barrel lengths, pencil vs. bull barrels, and pinned vs. non-pinned barrels of the model 10s. Then venture out into Model 12s, 14s, and 15s. When you have completed this assignment, begin with the .357 models and continue to work up in caliber from there. Good hunting!

No, but it's nice to have both. Stainless steel (64) is better in humid and sweaty conditions.

Don't know about the rest of you guys, but I blew past the "need" part a while back. This is where it's the most fun.
Make sound purchases, care for them well, work them out every once in a while at the range or hunting, and have fun. After all, you only live once.

Yes, you need to own one of each and every model, and every engineering change number.

You have a great .38 spl. all purpose revolver. You really don't "need" another. But "want" is a whole 'nother animal. I would say, if you got the itch, and the price is right, get it.

I gave up trying to justify my S&W purchases a long time ago. If you want a Model 64 and can afford it, that's reason enough to buy one...

Gosh, I never have owned enough S&W revolvers. Always found one lurking around the gun shop just waiting for a new owner.

Easy does it...
My friend, if you are still questioning the "need" to buy another S&W fire arm, of any discription, be very careful, acquiring this gun may cause you to step accross a line from which there is no return, never again being able to question "Why?" Flapjack.

If you only own one model 10, you actually need several revolvers. At a bare minimum you will need the other bbl. lengths. But it would probably be best to go for each bbl. length in each variation just to play it safe. And of course there are many variations of the old M&P you should think about
And what is this about needing "a" S&W model 64? There is more than one variation
