Finally got a chance to get to the range today. I had to check out
a 1911 with a new recoil spring cap, a 25 Browning for function and accuracy, an a Mod. 36 3" with a BKGripAdapter.
The grip adapter made recoil pretty much un-noticed. I thought
it'd just help in handling, but not so. A real pleasure to shoot.
Using 158 grn RNL reloads. They're obnoxious in a 442. Just works good
in the Mod. 36.
A Forum member linked me to a company selling reload 45 acp,
for $.278/round. The ammo is clean and operates an RIA 1911
just fine. In case I was just a guinea pig I'll not mention the supplier's name yet.
The 45 came with smooth wood stocks that looked nice, but left
something to be desired from a control viewpoint. Put some
Hogue panels on it, some synthetic material like rubber. They have
molded-in checkering, and handle quite well.
No malfunctions in the limited time I had, Life Is Good!!
