Default Side plate Engraving?????

Our son is returning on the U.S.S. Regan soon.
They have been depoled since the first of the year.
On this cruise he made Chief Pettie Officer. (YEA)
I bought him a Smith & Wesson mod.36 Chief Special ,thought it was fitting for him.
Is there anyone out there that could Engrave the Chief anchor and chain on the right hand side of the side plate, for us to give him after his pinning? First part of September.

You know Proud parrents thing for all the hard work.

I have the side plate removed and am willing to pay for the service..
Thanks to all that might have an Idea.
And thanks to All of our troops.
Ron

Locodriver, around 1970 I bought this 27-2 new and sent it back to the company and had them engrave my name in gold in a oval. Back then it was $66. Probley a fortune now, but why dont you call and see if they will do it?

CONGRATULATIONS to your son on his promotion, and especially overall for his service to the country.

I was at a gun show last year and some NUT CASE had scratched his 3 initials in the side-plate with what may have been a NAIL. The firearm in question was an older S&W model 17. The dealer had it on the table, bad side down, imagine that. When I picked it up and started examining it the dealer came hustling over just as I was looking at the poor persons engraving work.

I think the quality of work you're seeking for your sons S&W will far exceed that mess.

I'm sure someone here will and can assist you with your issue, and congratulations again to your son, I know you're PROUD OF HIM.

I had this sideplate engraved at a local gift shop - Barstow's Gifts and Engraving - for less than $20. ("Luscious" is my wife's nickname). I first went to the famous place at the mall and they were less than cordial about it.
Check out local trophy shops as well. Google is your friend.

I can't offer any suggestions, but I did want to say what a great gift that will be! Also, thank you to your son for his sacrifice for our freedom. God bless.

You have a couple decisions to make about what is engraving to you.Is it a machine job from a trophy jobber or a hand engraved by a real "engraver" ? Perhaps a banner or scroll work around his name or important dates. There are plenty of engravers around who would do what you request. If you are able to remove the side plate and send it to an engraver it will decrease the expense of shipping and take down.
Post your request over here @ Sam Alfano's Tip & Tricks for Hand Engravers plenty of budding and experienced engravers that would give you a beautifully engraved side plate.
Were it my son recieving such an distinction I would go with a hand engraved.

Talking Engraving 36

Thanks to all that respond.
He is proud to serve for his country and we are proud of his servis to all Americans.
I do have a .jpeg and an .eps file of the Chief anchor that I would like put on the side plate of the Chief special for him.
I thought I would have his initials and date put on the back strap for him .
Was thinking a Lazor might be the trick for the side plate.
Thanks again for your thoughts in this manner.

Ron, it would be helpful to know where you live so that we can recommend someone in your neighborhood. That said, you might try Orrin Truitt in Oklaholma...

Contact a local "quality" jewelry store and ask who does their engraving, and explain the project. I'd bet they have a source that will do quality work.

Default 36 engraving

Thanks Richard
Looked at all of them in this town going, to try Colorado Springs or mail it off .
I wouldnt think it would be to hard to do with a picture file and a lazor.Might take longer to set the machine up?
I will keep looking I have a few weeks left.
Thanks.

I don't think I would get it done with a laser, a gift like that needs to be hand engraved by a person that knows what they are doing.

Congrats to your son and tell him thanks for his service!
