NV I-HOP shooting
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that little to nothing is being mentioned about it on national news?
There is not much being placed on the internet by media or LEA either.
In the past when mass shootings take place, the event is on every channel until each fatality has been buried and their family members have made all the news shows.

I'm sure it's being held as a trump card to be played when the opportunity is more ripe.

You're not the only person wondering what happened to this story. The biggest question is where did this AK come from? In the shooting in Arizona they showed pics of the gun shop where the shooter bought the gun and played it up for weeks. Something's wrong with this picture.

Uncle Omar maybe!
Howdy,
Who knows? Maybe it was Uncle Omar or something along those lines.
You are right that it is not getting the play these things normally get.
Thanks
Mike

It was probably allowed to be sold to him by that Alpha Tango Foxtrot outfit, like the ones that went to Mexico...

Three of the four killed were Guard members. Probably not newsworthy enough for most left-wing media outlets.

PC rules the day. A supposedly legal Mexican immigrant with mental health problems and military victims versus a home grown crazy and a mostly ultra-liberal group of victims.

The reason your not seeing the hyperdrive by the media is that your not getting the whole story. Why? Because the main stream media found out some facts that won't fit their philosophy. What those facts are I don't know - could be the AK can be traced back to some govt. agency, the shooter was an illegal and was off his meds that were given to him - free of charge or some agency or judge had him and let him go, or any of a thousand reasons that don't fit the media's preconceived agenda of the "proper" facts and P.C. outcome of this multiple homicide. Whatever, it's now buried on page xxx somewhere.

The shooter was a U.S. citizen of Mexican heritage who had a history of mental illness, including previous hospitalizations and one commitment. That wasn't too hard to find out.

The story headlined on CNN (at least online) for at least two days. There was another mass shooting around the same time - I forget the details, family of three killed and toddler found duct taped I think it was.
It wasn't bigger news because not enough people were killed. Sad and simple, but true. We're used to relatively pedestrian shootings, it would take something over a dozen dead to make the news for more than two days.
The assault weapon's angle (that an AK, AR, what not) was used has also ceased to be interesting. It doesn't draw ratings. The kids at home play with these on their video games, half of them probably own one. The rest of the populace stopped caring at some point.
You can buy an AK anywhere or make one in your basement (fold up the receiver flats and get a parts kit). Origin of the weapon probably wasn't much of a story, assuming it could even be determined.

Gator, I think you are making some good points but the main issue is that people were killed with firearms and the shooter had more in his vehicle. The Congress is not going to let this pass without some resolution or legislative action being taken.
While I may be making more out of this than I should, I just think when things get quiet, something is going on in the background.

I thought the same thing after the Tucson shooting, but there hasn't been a big backlash in Congress since then. Yeah, Carolyn McCarthy is always going to be pushing something, but nothing has been seriously considered.

Exactly. But IMO your not going to hear "the rest story" as Paul Harvey use to say. If it doesn't fit - let it slip.
